Her Food Miniatures Are So Tempting That You'll Eat Them

Shilpa Mitha Makes A Living Out Of Creating Mini Replicas Of Food Items...

Twenty-Eight-Year Old, Shilpa Mitha has an intriguing hobby - creating mini replicas of food items. A hobby that was born out of her desire to make a pair of burger earings for herself has now turned into her work.

She creates replicas as and when she gets the orders. Having made more than 1,000 replicas of food items, Shilpa says it is the different textures, shapes and colours, which make a real dish, as the reason behind her opting to create food miniatures primarily.

Shilpa uses air dry clar, acrylic paints and glue to create these miniatures. As the ingredients are already small in size in reality, it is quite a challenge for her to make them using clay.

Here are some tutorials Shilpa brings from her blog that will help you create your own miniatures:

1- Angry bird:

Things that you'll need :
- Air dry clay (Red, yellow, white and black colors)
- Scissors
- White glue

For the beak, roll the clay into the shape of a tear drop and use a pair of scissors to cut it horizontally. This would give you an open beak.

2- An angel christmas ornament

Things that you'll need :
Modeling clay (air dry or polymer.. doesn't really matter)
Paints (for uncolored air dry clay) - colors I've used : Purple, flesh tint, black, white, red & gold.
Cookie cutters
A patterned rubber stamp (to add some detail to the dress)
Eye pin, jump ring and a ribbon to make it into an ornament.
Knife
Cold cream
Powder (to dust the surface)

These talents are really appealing but there is lack of exposure for all such appealing stuff. We Indians can never get out of cricket and Pakistan issues so it is very unfortunate to say that real talent of the Indians is overshadowed due to these futile debates going on!
