Who Would Be A Better Dad: Batman Or Superman?

Two of the most iconic superheroes have gone in for a radical overhaul. In the recently launched DC's "Rebirth," the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight have become fathers. Jonathan Kent, the ten year old son of Superman and Lois Lane, is our new Superboy. While, Damian Wayne is the son of Batman and Talia al Ghul, thus the grandson of Batman villain Ra's al Ghul. But, it remains to be seen how fans react to their new avatar. In the meantime, let's try to find an answer to this hypothetical question: Who would make a better dad between the two?

An argument for Batman

Batman understand the pangs of growing without parents:  We all know that Batman had a deeply traumatised childhood. His parents — Thomas Wayne and Martha Wayne — were shot right before his eyes. Bruce Wayne swore an oath to rid the city of the evil that had taken his parents' lives. Batman knows the pangs of growing without parents. This is why he would cherish every moment spent with his kid. He would know the value of an engaged father and would be extra sensitive to his needs.

Batman is human: One of the qualities that make the Caped Crusader so endearing is the fact that he is just a man. He has trained himself to be a crusader against crime. No superhero can match his willpower. No matter how worse the things get, the Dark Knight will always rise from the ashes. These are the qualities that a child would want in his/her parent.  Batman gives an important message: You don't need to be born with powers to make a difference. Whereas Superman is essentially an alien who was brought up as a human. His outsider vantage would make relating to a child's needs really difficult.

He is a gadget master: From Batpod, Batmobile, Batplane, to Bat Beacon, Batarang, Grappling Gun, the silent guardian of Gotham has a gadget for every situation.  Batman's penchant for gadgetry clearly taps into teens' obsession with technology, creating yet more relatability.

He likes young people:  The original Robin, Dick Grayson, was anywhere from 8-12 years old when Bruce Wayne adopted him. Batman has a tough exterior but he has his soft side, too.

A case for Superman

Superman had two good role models on how to be a father. Batman had none : Superman, as we know, has two fathers.  Jor-El was the biological father of Superman. He sent his infant son Kal-El (Superman) in a homemade rocket ship to the planet Earth just moments before Krypton's destruction. On earth, he was raised by his adoptive parents — Jonathan Kent and Martha Kent. The Kents instill within Clark a strong sense of morals, and they encourage him to use his powers for the betterment of humanity.  He was raised to think that he was on Earth for a reason that was bigger than himself. Remember what Jor-El said to Superman in Man of Steel: You will give the people of Earth an ideal to strive towards. They will race behind you, they will stumble, they will fall. But in time, they will join you in the sun, Kal. In time, you will help them accomplish wonders." Superman has strong morals instill in him which he can pass onto his son. Whereas, Bruce lost his parents at a young age, a tragedy that defined his life. Thus, he would lack in parental guidance.

Superman is emotionally mature: Both men have experienced loss in their lives. But it's Superman who has handled the grief more maturely. We know that loosing parents is heart breaking to say the least. But, remember Superman not just lost his parents, he lost his entire planet. Still, he managed to recover from the trauma and figured out a way to move on. Whereas Batman, even after years is still traumatised by the deaths of his parents. It will not be wrong to say that Superman is emotionally more mature than Batman. And we all know that parenting is all about handling the fluctuating emotions of a child.

Neither Batman nor superman will make a super father, only a true loving and caring father is a super dad. Every child''s father is a superhero in his/her eyes, even mine''s too!

Ritvik Baweja Bal Bharati Public School

My personal views are that superman would be a better father than Batman. Firstly because obviously he has much better etiquette and good manners. And also he always supports the right side and saves the mankind without thinking for himself whereas I would call Batman a person with regal air and a bit selfish.

Aditi Sahi D C MODEL SCH PKL-SEC-7

I would personally prefer batman because He is human and because of his willpower and I don''t know why but I think he would value his daughter/son more than anything else and of course he is a gadget master. But above all I love my dad more than anyone or anything in this world and always choose him above all.

Kashish Verma Bharti Public School Swasthya Vihar

My vote goes for Superman as a good father because I feel Superman has a much positive character in comparison to Batman and he can definitely become a good father.

saishalini Bethel Mat Hr Sec School

I think both batman and superman would be good fathers because on one side batman knows the life without parents and tend to be affectionate towards the children and superman is emotionally mature which will lead t a smart father for leading a happy life.

Vihan R. Yalamanchili DDMS P.OBUL REDDY PUBLIC SCHOOL

Superman would be a much better father than Batman. He is selfless, always ready to help people, and also humble and down to earth. He obviously holds good values and conducts himself well in public. All these qualities are required to raise good children.

Superman is the best father

JIYA TOMAR B G S NATIONAL PUBLIC SCHOOL

I think that it doesn''t really seems to be a great deal for pondering over whether Superman or Batman would be a better ''Father'', because both of them are phenomenal heroes with extraordinary powers, skills holding onto which they can suppress al of the ''Bads''. Adhering to these morals and values of life, anyone can be a good Human and further more a Father too.

All super heroes can be a super dad/mom because they can understand feelings of everybody. But they cannot be a normal dad ,their work of saving people can call them anytime

DIWANSHI SHETIJA BHARTI PUBLIC SCHOOL (SWASTHYA VHR)

As per my perspective a FATHER is the one who supports the child in every situation,he is the epitome of love and care.No matter whether he is a batman or superman, but he is always a idol/hero for his children.

I prefer Superman. Because Batman looks a bit dangerous and frightening..

Not batman nor superman, every dad knows their kids - their whims and wishes , A father cannot be compared to any super heroes. He is more than a super hero.

saumya QUEEN VALLEY''S SEC-8 DWARKA

Is can not be decided. If batman or superman wants they both can become a better dad. It depends up on how they care for their kids. No matter if he is batman or superman.

Sharmeen Khan PADUA HIGH SCHOOL-MANKHURD

Every father loves their child. There is no good dad or bad dad or better father. Both will love their whole heart and we cañnot compare them. Love is unexplainable and so is this question. If Batman comes and stands in front of me I would still tell my parents are my biggest superheroes.

Darshil Shah ST. XAVIERS - LOYOLLA -2 LOYOLLA 2

Batman is the only human in the D.C. league whereas all others are Gods. So it is obvious that Batman will be a good dad as he has Human qualities. Well it all depends whether the child is an alien or a human.

Himanshi Dhawan Saffron Public School

I think Superman will turn out to be a great dad. As he himself was basked in the warmth of two fathers, he will surely try to give attention and love to his children. Also, he will also take care of their feelings.

gandwaid sai sri jahnavi P OBUL REDDY PUBLIC SCHOOL

Neither of them I believe. Because both are always busy in saving the public and killing the evil. They won''t have enough time to spend with their children which would be the worst thing for the child...........

Snegha.L Bethel Mat Hr Sec School

i would vote for superman because he is emotionally matured.so he would understand the challenges faced by adults.usually when get matured we really don''t stick on to our fathers.so when there is a father like him it might be more easy for adults to maintain a friendly relationships with DADS.

Vishakha Bhalla BOSCO SR.SEC.SCHOOL( PASCHIM VIHAR)

Be it batman or superman, anyone who is a father ultimately experiences the world''s best feeling and and does what is best for the child.

SHUBHAM BANSAL RYAN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

yes, neither Batman nor superman will make a super father, only a true loving and caring father is a super dad. Every child''''s father is a superhero in his/her eyes. that''s true that are fathers scold us a lot but this shows that they care for us also

My dad is 60 percent Superman abd 40 percent batman

Akshat Sharma CENTRAL ACADEMY

It looks like neither of them are gonna be better father cause the situation lies in how a good father treats his/her child and to the extent they both reflect their agressiveness when talk about their role i.e, who they are and what role they are playing! A father is a true gentleman to his kids !!
