WhatsApp Tips And Tricks

On February 24 this year, WhatsApp reinvented the status feature. A new update to ‘status’ was rolled out, which allows users to share photos and videos with your friends and contacts on WhatsApp as the status update.

Posting photo and video as status update
To post a photo or video to Status Update, tap on the new status tab on the bottom left of the screen. From there you can see other people’s status. To update yours, hit the plus sign on the top right corner and select a picture or video from the gallery or click one and post it.

Find out who viewed your status updates
To find out who viewed your status update, head over to the Status tab and click on your status update. Swipe up on the number of views and you can see all those who viewed your status.

Send WhatsApp messages with Siri
One of the major updates iOS 10 brought was added functionality to Siri. Hold down the home button of your iPhone to activate Siri, and tell Siri to send a WhatsApp to the person you want to text to. Siri will ask you for the matter you want to send, and it is done.

Mention someone in a group chat
In a group chat, by adding ‘@’ symbol and typing the name of the person will mention or address that particular person. This will alert them directly. And he or she will appreciate you for making communication easy in the sea of messages in a group chat.

Star messages to refer later
Searching for the particular message in a long thread of conversation is very frustrating. A simple way to handle this is to star the message and later access them from the ‘starred messages’ section in that sender’s contact page.

Change your number without losing your chats
A couple of years ago changing your WhatsApp number was a nightmare, as it was certain that you will lose all the chats made with the previous number. Now you can head over to Account settings and to Change Number option, from where you can change your number without losing your chats.

Delete larger files
Head to Data and Storage Usage tab in Settings. Click on the Storage Use and you can find space taken up by individual chats there.
