What Unites Or Divides Us? Let's Discuss

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was born on October 31, 1875 in Nadiad, a small village in Gujarat. He was conferred with the highest civilian honour, Bharat Ratna, in 1991 for his services to the nation. Patel was popularly known as the 'Iron man' of India. Paying tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary, prime minister, Narendra Modi recalled the contribution that the great leader had made for uniting India.  In his 25th Mann Ki Baat address on Diwali, Modi had urged the nation to promote unity and equality. Modi said: "He gave us a united India and to keep it united is our responsibility."

However, the current scenario in our country is far from what perhaps Sardar Patel had imagined it to be. The growing intolerance among the people for its own countrymen, the right to speak or fight for things that concern you are also under threat. Instead of uniting against fighting the evil, people are uniting to promote the evil. It is not just the country that is facing a divided self. Everywhere around the world, unity has been lost in translation. People stand divided on what to say, what to support or what to fight for. Things that would have united the world, are now dividing them on the basis of race, culture and ethnicity.

Accornding to me its not the religion, state or complexion that divides us it only the mentality of the people which causes division and its the mentality again which unites us. The love, care and loyality for others without thinking about theri background unites us.

It''s the diverse population of our country that unites as well as divides us. Whenever a rogue state such as our neighbouring country attacks us, one can see the whole country getting united and defending each other. This sight of harmony is just dazzling. But when any communal issue such as that of building the Babari Masjid or Ram Mandir, it''s heartbreaking to see our fellow countrymen fighting with each other.

We Indians are violating India by our riots and fights between our government itself and also induce terrorism in youngsters by the developing technology and our unity is declined by diversified thoughts and care about us only and not as a country.

I think multiple languages in India decides us. Because in some states I have observed all relegions like Hindu,Muslim & Christian people speak same languages. And such states are more united.

India is the type of country where we have lots of diversity, various beliefs, various thinking, different forms of seeing god, but something holds us all together - the feel of being a citizen of India , being siblings, the children of India.

Religions and caste are meant to follow certain qualities in life not to create violence. It is upto the people''s mentality. We must have the idea of Integrity.

Language, religion, caste, politics and mainly financial conditions can divide our country. On national festivals our country gets united because of the feeling of patriotism, so in one way patriotism unites our country. Somewhere or the other today we are in the middle because we are not totally divided nor united.

Our identity as Indians unites us but religious differences divides us.

The secularism of our country divides us as well as unites us. Regardless of different religion, caste, creed, believes we live in harmony with each other and respect each and every section of our society. Whereas sometimes difference due to religion, personal belief leads us into a patriarchal mindset and alas divided we fall.

ACCORDING TO MY MIND I THINK THAT THE THOUGHTS THAT CREATES IN OUR MIND WHICH IS NOT ABOUT OTHER OR THE BAD THINKING ABOUT THEM CAN UNITES OR CAN BE THE DIVISION OF US.

Definitely the orthodoxy . For sure. The mindset of being superior to the others. This is what divides us. However, our festivals, our diversities and cultures hold us together.

Personal beliefs are what divide us while a common futuristic goal for the nation as a whole is what unites us. Small fights happen over religion, caste and language, but at at times of national crisis aren''t we all united as a nation to stand up against those against us?

Yes Indeed it is the need of hour for our country and we must unite to figure up and set example for the other countries
