What Is A Country Better Known For? Debate

According to a news report, there is a political map of the world which lists out what every country is better known for. If there was ever a thing to unabashedly challenge your view of the world, it'd have to be this global map that apparently knows more about these countries than you ever did. And the difference is as good as a 360 degree flip.

India's not known for how colourful it is or how helpful its people are or even the Taj Mahal. According to this map, India's popular for its bananas. Our errant cousin and neighbour, Pakistan, apparently loves dirty pictures. Now, who would've thought...

This 'International number ones' map was created by David McCandless, and is a collection of data from sources that include Guiness World Records and the World Bank, to name a few. The index on the bottom of the map goes as high up as straight up 'nasty.'

Other audacious facts: France isn't the most romantic in the world. It's the most drunk on whiskey! And Colombia's not reeling under the weight of an oppressive economy; it's actually quite happy. Take that, Escobar. *Reads map. Wipes brain matter off wall*

Celebs Say Australia Should Be Known For Aggression!

I like the idea but they have got it all wrong (winks). I wish they had re-mapped Australia as the land of aggression. From on-field to off it, there is a lot of abuses being hurled everywhere. Did you know almost 19 new absuse words originated from there alone!

Vir Das, Stand Up commedianne

This map doesn't make any sense to me. It is not even funny. Starting from our very own India. I think we are more about diversity and religion than about Bananas! Going with that logic, West Indies should be known for Giraffes! And Switzerland should be known for shoot locations.

Vinita Narang, art connoisuer, Gurgaon

I wish Britain could be known for being Snobish and Foolish. USA should be Boorish. It is a fun way of remembering countries and maybe their capital cities as well.

Ridhi Arora, author

The map has got 80% of the things wrong but I like the concept. We should devise something of the sorts for our States as well. Chennai should be known as Sambarland, Delhi as Sardi!

Arjun Kapoor, actor

Youth Reporters Say India Is Better Known For Festivals and Vibrancy

This map is ridiculous even if it is just for fun. India is the land of milk, if they were looking for options. As for me, I would say Pakistan is known for Fawad Khan and India for Priyanka Chopra.

Rosy Chaddha, class XII, Bal Bharati School

I think France is better known for Red Carpet than anything else and USA for Donald Trump!

Even though this Idea of mapping is absurd but still it is a nice initiative. Most probably India is not famous about Bananas. But we are either famous for our cultural diversity. The prevailing state of secularism and traditional practices IN India with different religions. Makes it a complete nation. Hence India should be known after its cultural diversity.

I think spam emails term isn''t appropriate for U.S. instead it should be termed as place with too many leaders.

Hey there is no personal freedom in Canada. Also Thailand is famous for iconic sites and cheap beaches not for cuisine and rice.

I think India should be known for its cultural diversity and hospitality. But, no doubt the concept of this map is quite cool.We should create a map and show the most famous person in that country, or the best delicacy of that country. If we do start making such maps we can come up with many such hilarious ideas.
