What If All The Ice Melted On Earth?

We all know that the issue of climate change threatens the very future of mankind. Rising sea levels are already displacing millions and the things are expected only to get worse. But, what would happen if all the world’s ice melted completely? What would happen to the coastal cities around the world? How many people will get displaced? What will be its impact on wildlife? How will it influence our ecosystem?

In this video, Bill Nye, known as “The Science Guy” teamed with ASAPScience to break down the horrific consequences if all the ice in the world melted due to the effects of global warming.

Bill explains that the rising sea level would displace nearly 20% of the population and submerged all the major coastal cities around the world (including Mumbai). This would result in economic damages worth trillions of dollars.  Another effect of global warming is what Nye calls the “feedback effect” between the ice and the sun. Ice reflects sunlight into space, but with less ice, the sea absorbs more sunlight, causing the earth’s temperature to rise further.  It’s is goes without saying that most of our marine species will get extinct, thereby having a catastrophic effect on the entire food chain.

The video also explains that, if all the world's ice melted it would disrupt the ocean currents that help keep alive the underwater plant life—that produces “nearly half of the world’s oxygen.”

This video is trying to tell us that if we don’t get our act together, we are in for a trouble.

Can we do something to check climate change or are we at a point of no return? Let’s know in the comments below.

Climate depends on a whole lot of factors which reflects the past tradegies through the fluctuating temperatures! The London smog was clear enough to prove the statement. We are undoubtedly on a no return point.

Khushi Sharma BHARTI PUBLIC SCHOOL (SWASTHYA VHR)

Though we are too late and may not get the old climate back but there''s always a room for improvement, to check the climate change all the methods and the ways about which we are pre-informed should be enforced. Practicality needs to be the point of focus and campaign shouldn''t end with just the discussions.

Abhishek Singh MAYUR PUBLIC SCHOOL(PATPATGANJ)

Actions are more important than the words. We all know numerous ways but the sad part is that most of us do nothing. "Prevention is better than cure" We have already lost the chance to prevent now and we can''t make more delays now. Let''s act more than we say !!

MELISSA FERNANDES FATIMA H SCH-AMBERNATH

This problem is already started arising but in a very minute form of glaciers. If this problem does not decrease its sure to have the problem mentioned above.Big measures need to be taken.Big measures happen when small measures are taken into account.....Start now .........Its never too late......

KEERTHANA M THE NEW CAMBRIDGE HIGH SCHOOL

i would say we better don''t delay and start to help mother earth to recover from this sickness . If she is good we will also be good and to achieve this we must plant trees, use less non -biodegradable items, use the triple ''R'' policy and use carpools . we must not let the situation to worsen any furthur

Ritvik Baweja Bal Bharati Public School

It''s definitely a new rising concern. Provisions should be made to curb sudden climate change
