Time To Opt For Wage Equality? Discuss

Pay-scale should not depend on a person’s gender. It should be equal. Patriarchal mindset should change                 —Aamir Khan, actor

Recently actor Aamir Khan joined a raging debate in Bollywood, demanding an end to the disparity in the pay scale among male and female stars. Time and again, many Bollywood stars have spoken unequivocally about the difference between the remuneration package of actors and actresses in India. Surprisingly, this disparity is not confined to Bollywood, or for that matter, India, alone. At the 87th Academy Awards, Boyhood actress Patricia Arquette made a powerful statement about wage equality for women, getting overwhelming support from her co-stars. “It’s our time to have wage equality once and for all and equal rights for women in the United States of America,” she asserted. Significantly, it’s not just the film industry that follows an uequal pay package. According to Sanjay Modi, MD of Monster India Worldwide, a job portal, lack of pay parity has taken centre stage, with strong views being voiced by sportspersons, political and business leaders alike. Men often get higher salary offers than women vying for the same title in the same organisation. Why are women paid less than their male counterparts despite breaking glass ceilings? We find out...

Living in 21st century and trying to accomplish goals like eradication of poverty and countering terrorism can only be possible if there is a fair participation from women. If we will discriminate women on pay scales then how can we expect to succeed in the mentioned issues? Women are equipotential as compared to men in any type of work.We should not promote such menial mindset of patriarchal society.

Its all about the respect one should earn.Earning respect is not measured in terms of payment. But one should also be concerned about women empowerment and their rights in accordance to men. Many concepts are already have been put forward regarding this matter and now I think more than half of the population is concerned about the issue. Thus,I can conclude that gender parity can also increase country''s GDP and even can aid the future generation to know about the past events.

Now i think men and women are treated equally. Salary is decided by the government so there is no difference in the salary paid .

I have seen women doing exacting work but paid less which is totally unfair. Gender should be yardstick to decide one''s payment.

there is no gender difference any more because men and women are getting equal salaries and also times change.

In this mordern 21st century, although women have proved that they have the ability to perform with the same skill and success in every endeavour engaged by men,the issue of sex discrimination still prevails. In my view, earning respect and payment should not depend on sex. Eventually, women have greater potentials than men which should not be underestimated. So,this issue should not prevail any more in our society and we should be aware of our rights and ask for them.

we are living in the 21st century and now women are doing the same work that men do. in film industry also, female actors do equal efforts as male actors. so their salaries should also be same

According to me, if women feel that they are paid less, they must fight for respect. The society does not listen to one''s desire just because they do not fight. Women all around the world can do a thousand times better than men and need to be provided a chance by her family members or the government.

We are living in technological world. In Olden days people refuse to provide education to women. They treated them badly. As the years goes by women too joined in many fields and achieved success. They came across many hurdles to promote rights for women. We must give respect to women and treat them as a living creature.

It''s really excruciating to see the pitiable state of women struggling hard for equal wages. It''s really sad that living in the 21st century, our country is not able to provide equal wages to their womenfolk. How can we forget that a nation''s progress and prosperity can be judged by the way it treats its women folk? It''s time to make the womenfolk of our country get equal wages.
