Time To Look For A New Abode?

Humans only have a thousand years to find a new home, said Stephen Hawking during a speech at Oxford University Union. According to the world renowned physicist, it will be very unlikely for humans to survive in the next millennium, and in order to subsist, humans have to find another home.

Why worry?

The physicist believes that life on Earth is at an ever-increasing risk of being wiped out by a disaster, such as a sudden nuclear war, a genetically engineered virus, or the rising threat of artificial intelligence.

The way out

He urged humans to go into space for survival as humankind itself will be the reason for Earth’s demise through its continual and rapid use of the planet’s resources.

I want to go into space on  Richard Branson’s Ride Virgin Atlantic spaceship. I want to encourage public interest in space, and I have been getting my training early

The major challenge

Before moving to another planet, Hawking said that there’s another challenge: the battle against technology. He explained that despite the potential of technology giving way for possible ways of human survival, artificial intelligence can also wipe out humans. “Once humans develop artificial intelligence, it will take off on its own and redesign itself at an ever-increasing rate. Humans who are limited by slow biological evolution, cannot compete and will be superseded,” he added.

I am worried that if this is the situation in 2016 then what will happen in the future? I think that it would become impossible for humans to survive after 1000 years so it is time that we should prepare for future for our future generations.

I don''t think that we won''t get another planet to live in. If it was, that planet will also will be destroyed by us. Then again we need to look for another planet

There''s nothing can be done to save the planet from great disaster. Because it''s we human beings who have done a great mistake because of selfishness. Atleast from now onwards we can maintain peace among the nations and prevent pollution.

Probably, the present generation would not worry about this critical condition. The main crisis occur after several generations. So this is the right time for us to find our new home.

The earth is slowly getting deteriorated because of the selfishness of human beings. The disaster cannot be stopped but we have to find a way to extend the life of mother nature to save earth because the root cause of this situation is wars and destruction caused by human beings .

Yes, its true that Earth is not going to survive for a very long time because of our greed. It''s we, tge human beings who ourselves are responsible for our own destruction.

our earth is full of resources but we are consuming it more early than they are replenished. time is not gone. we can still make a change get up !!!!!!!!

Yashaswini nand Army Public School

It is really essential to find some other place to live in because the earth, after some time would not be able to sustain life because of all the activities that humans being are carrying out for their good and forgetting about it''s impact on the earth. If we cannot find a place ,the life cycle of humans, flora and fauna would soon be extinct and the earth would destroy.

Shambhavi V Sabhahit GG International School Pune

If we continue destroying Earth and exploiting her resources indiscriminately, then it would become imperative for us to change our abode. However if conscious steps are taken towards a cleaner, greener and safer Earth, we can retain our abode and sustain life here.......
