Take 5 With Priyanka Chopra

Wear some confidence on your sleeve and the world will take note: What I like best about myself is my ability to laugh at myself. I really do respect it when people make me the butt of their jokes in a fun way. I also know how to handle trolls who don’t mean anything in a positive way. My mantra for dressing up — wear your confidence. That’s what I’d recommend to everyone. It’s a big turn on.

Take risks and life will reward you: 2I like exploring unfamiliar territories, I like the ocean at night. I like weird things. I like the combination of ice cream and cola. If I am told something can’t be done, I would want to do just that! I think you should do the same...

Don’t let them stereotype you: The only different thing I did is stand my ground and say no to all those offers which would have put me in that box. I didn’t want to be the exotic Indian princess who rides on elephants.
I used to be asked those (stereotypical) questions all the time. Like, ‘In India, do you go to school on elephants?’ It is ridiculous sometimes to know how the
perception is.

Live for yourself and not to please everyone around you: I’ve realised one thing from being in show business: You can’t please everyone. You just can’t. There’s no way everyone will always be happy with you. Be who you are and let people decide whether they like you or not.

Don’t ever be bullied into believing and doing something : There have been many instances when I wanted to take the easier route and join the gang even when I didn’t believe in whatever they were doing. Something pulled me back. It is tough to stand for something that you think is right and argue with someone who is opinionated. But do it once, twice... you will get the courage to stand on your own feet.
