Six Absolutely Invaluable Kitchen Hacks

Use these hacks to make your parent's life easier and help them multitask between preparing food, cleaning, and organising kitchen space...

1. How to squeeze out the seeds from your vegetables in a hurry

What to do: Use an ice-cream scoop
The reason: It’s sharp, the edges scrape out the seeds easily from most vegetables, such as pumpkins or zucchinis. It’s even handy if you’re looking to make thinly sliced salads.

2. How to remove excess fat efficiently from cooked food

What to do: Wrap the ice cubes in a paper towel and wipe it over the top of the food to remove the excess fat
The reason: The ice acts as a magnet and draws the fat floating on top of the food onto it

3. How to prevent plastic wrap from stretching or unevenly ripping

What to do: Store it in the fridge like the pros do
The reason: The wrap tends to stick and tear much lesser when stored in a cool storage

4. How to simplify the peeling of boiled eggs

What to do: Add soda or vinegar to water you are boiling your eggs in
The reason: The vinegar tends to get inside the shells and make peeling much easier

5. How to make the perfect basted eggs

What to do: Add water instead of vegetable oil in the pan when frying the eggs
The reason: Doing this can give you the perfect eggs with a perfect yolk

6. How to warm up a baked item without drying it out

What to do: Add a glass of water alongside
The reason: The moisture from the water can prevent the pastry from drying out and preserve the crunchiness in the crust.

The Times of India Student edition, a customized student newspaper exclusively for the students, packs a powerful punch in terms of content that leads to a smarter and superior learning experience. The information is crafted such that it finds use in classroom discussions, thus making it relevant and current. It truly gives education a new dimension by fostering the simple habit of reading which in turn paves the way for a confident, informed and aware individual. A newspaper that inspires young minds and equips them to face challenges of today’s world, making way for global citizens.

Empowering students with new cutting-edge knowledge through various educative and informative activities is a commitment and tradition of Times NIE. On a significant scale Times NIE comprises diverse interesting activities and events that boost the child’s passion for learning, while revealing hidden talent.

While you are aware that The Times of India is among the leading English Newspapers across the world, it has consummated its position as an everlasting winner. With several international awards and recognitions to its credit, The Times of India and Times NIE have validated an enduring tradition of setting the highest benchmarks in every respect. We have been awarded with the two most prestigious awards, Times NIE - World’s No.1 NIE program and The Times of India, Student Edition - World’s No.1 Newspaper for the youth in 2006 by the celebrated World Association of Newspapers (WAN). In 2008 we were honoured by the International Newspaper Marketing Association (INMA), yet another international recognition for ‘Youth Audience Development’. Times NIE has grown remarkably over the last three and a half decades, touching millions of children across more than 16 Indian cities. Our absolute commitment towards the fledgling generation remains undiluted and our greatest strength lies in the school partnership and commitment.
