Rules To Kickstart Your Winter Morning

To make your getting up routine in the morning easy, Times-NIE has few tips to offer

Keep a warm jacket handy
To leave a warm bed in winter is not easy because the outside temperature is much colder and less friendly than the nice cosy bed. What’s the solution? Before sleeping, keep a warm woollen garment on your bedside and slippers right under your bed. Get into the warm garment as soon as you wake up and you will feel better prepared to leave the comfort of your welcoming pillows and blankets.

Start with cool water
Now we are not saying that splash your face with cold water the first thing in the morning. The deal is to have a glass of room temperature (not cold) water after you wake up; it supposedly refreshes you inside out and sets the pace for an energetic morning.

No snoozing
When you have to get up in the morning, you should stop using the snooze feature on your phone. “I will wake up in 10 minutes” is an excuse you give to yourself, and that doesn’t work. Therefore, set an alarm on your clock and place it at a faraway distance. This way you will have to get out of the bed to shut the screaming clock off.

Sunshine works wonders
A dark room in the morning may be holding you back from getting up on time. While sleeping in a dark room is good for well-being, it is important to open blinds/curtain in the morning to let the sunlight in. Because, it is a great rejuvenator that gives the natural warmth to begin your day.

Take help from upbeat music
There is nothing better than good and peppy music to help you wake up in a happy way. If you are a music buff, here is a trick that might just work – make a playlist of your favourite ‘warming up’ songs. In the morning, when you get up to switch your alarm clock off, hit the music button and let the music beats sway you towards a new and beautiful morning. Besides waking you up, it will also cheer you up.

Make a to-do list of things and stick it
in a place that is easily visible from your bed. When you are procrastinating your waking up time on a foggy morning, snuggled in a cosy blanket, have a look at this list and you will be motivated to get up and get going. Think of how the delay might set you back in school, extra curricular activities and so on. This way you will also feel a sense of responsibility in waking up on time. After all, we all need a cause and a reason to wake up in the morning, everyday.

We all have heard this in our childhood ''Early to bed, early to rise makes a person healthy and wise'' but unfortunately very few people follow it. We should must remember that is better to be an early morning bird than a night owl.
