Make your space look bright and beautiful on Diwali. Times-NIE gives innovative home decor ideas

This Diwali, take the lead in prettifying your room as well as your home. Maybe, all that your parents expect you to do is to participate in the puja and light some diyas. However, surprise them this year by walking the extra mile and doing up your home. It’s a lot of fun and you will feel happy at the end of it. Here are some easy and simple ways to deck up your place.

Creative wall
Try to do something interesting with your walls so that it reflects the festive spirit of your home. You can try creative wall art with colours and calligraphy, play with patterns, texture and colour. Using wallpaper in floral prints and motifs is also a welcome change from basic all white and beige colour scheme.

Vibrant diya decoration
Buy basic earthen lamps from your neighbourhood market or craft fairs and unleash your creativity. Paint diyas with colourful paints and add glitter and other sparkly decorations to them. When you light up these hand-painted diyas on Diwali, you will feel special and good about it.

Paper bag strings
Unused paper bags kept at home can be put to good use now. Collect same size bags in different colours, string them together and attach them with lights to get the quintessential Diwali look.

Fun stationery
You get great stationery these days – online as well as in stores. Buy some new ones and decorate them on your study shelf to add to the Diwali ambience. You can also repair old and broken stationery such as broken pencils, paint brushes and discarded work books, and use it in quirky ways to add to the festive decor.

Sparkly twigs
Fairy lights are nice but a bit clichéd. For a touch of shimmer, spray sparkle paint (in golden, silver) on dried twigs and place them in the living room. This shiny tree will make your decor style stand out.

Bunched bangles
Collect glass bangles of different colours, bunch them together with a ribbon or string and use as ethnic wall hanging. It is an off-beat decor idea that lends colour, shine and traditional touch to the much-awaited festival.

On a significant scale Times NIE comprises diverse interesting activities and events that boost the child’s passion for learning, while revealing hidden talent.

While you are aware that The Times of India is among the leading English Newspapers across the world, it has consummated its position as an everlasting winner. With several international awards and recognitions to its credit, The Times of India and Times NIE have validated an enduring tradition of setting the highest benchmarks in every respect. We have been awarded with the two most prestigious awards, Times NIE - World’s No.1 NIE program and The Times of India, Student Edition - World’s No.1 Newspaper for the youth in 2006 by the celebrated World Association of Newspapers (WAN).
