Must Watch: Kate Winslet's Anti-Bullying Film

When the Academy Award winner actress says something, you simply have to stop everything and take notice

There are tons of films you can watch on bullying, some are good, some just too repetitive in content and some really pull the ground under your feet. 'Daisy Chain' belongs to the last lot. With a run-time of five minutes, Daisy Chain has been written and directed by Australian writer-director Galvin Scott Davis. Davis, a father of three young boys, is a popular face in the world of advertising. What's really groundbreaking about this film is that it just does not focus on the plight of a victim of bullying but also, how with the help of one brave friend, the victim can actually turn into a powerhouse of resistance and can lead to the positive transformation of bullies.

Kate Winslet, the Academy Award Winner, has given voice to the lead character of Daisy Chain.

Kate Winslet was bullied for being chubby
Actress Kate Winslet had recently said that she was bullied at school for being overweight. The 40-year-old star said she got the revenge on her bullies by living a happy life. "I was kind of bullied when I was younger, actually at school. For being chubby, you know, I had girls who were envious of me because I was acting a little bit as a teenager," Winslet said. "This (being happy) is my revenge. Right here, this lovely career I have been blessed with. I have healthy children. You know, I have a really happy life and, to me, it's like, 'Well, look at me now girls!'" she added.

Ever been in a bully-situation? How did you come out of it? Did a friend help? How has bullying affected you. Discuss it all here.

The Affects Of Childhood Bullying May Last For 40 Years
The negative impact of being bullied in childhood remains persistent and pervasive, and lasts nearly 40 years later as well, it has been revealed.
According to the study by King's College London, the findings come from the British National Child Development Study which includes data on all 7,771 children born in England, Scotland and Wales during one week in 1958.
The parents of the children provided information on their child's exposure to bullying when they were aged 7 and 11. The children were then followed up until the age of 50.
Dr Ryu Takizawa, lead author of the paper from the Institute of Psychiatry at King's College London, said,"Our study shows that the effects of bullying are still visible nearly four decades later. The impact of bullying is persistent and pervasive, with health, social and economic consequences lasting well into adulthood."
Individuals who were bullied in childhood were more likely to have poorer physical and psychological health and cognitive functioning at age 50, and those who were frequently bullied in childhood were at an increased risk of depression, anxiety disorders, and suicidal thoughts. The harmful effect of bullying remained even when other factors including childhood IQ, emotional and behavioural problems, parents' socioeconomic status and low parental involvement, were taken into account.
The study is the first to look at the effects of bullying beyond early adulthood, and is published in the American Journal of Psychiatry.

I saw the short film. What I think about bullying is that why should we let anyone try to oppress us? Everyone is an individual. An individual with different features. Never let anyone influence you. Have pride in what you are. This will provide you with self confidence and you''ll surely perform better.
