Muhammad Ali Is The Greatest; Here's Proof

Muhammad Ali and boxing are synonymous with each other. When we hear boxing, we cannot but think about the legend. The man called himself The Greatest, and we would be hard pressed to disagree. He was good with words, skill and in the ring he was unstoppable. There was brute power, there was grace and Ali pretty much brought a much needed flair to the sport.

It's been nearly 2 years since he passed and over 3 decades since he was in the ring. But there is no doubt that the man is the Greatest of all time. Be it in the ring or in life, Ali has always taken whatever has been thrown at him and given it back tenfold. Here's a look at the instances when Ali showed the world that he was the one and only greatest of all time:

1. Winning gold at the Rome Olympics in 1960 when he was just 18 years of age

2. Defeated Sonny Liston in 1964 to become the World Heavyweight Champion

3. Was banned and sent to jail in 1967-68 because he would not enlist in the US Army as he maintained he had no quarrel against the Vietnamese whom USA were fighting at that time.

4. Knocks out George Foreman in the famous Rumble in the Jungle match to become champion for the second time in 1974.

5. Forced Joe Frazier to concede from the stool in their thrilling encounter in 1975 which has forever been known as the Thrilla in Manilla.

6. Lit the Olympic flame in Atlanta in 1996 despite being badly affected by Parkinson’s disease which won the crowd over.

7. His message after the 9/11 attacks about how Islam is a religion of peace won a lot of respect particularly at a time the world was still recovering what had happened in New York.

"Don’t count the days make the days count" this is one of the most inspiring quotes by Mohammad Ali. The most inspiring thing about him is his never-loosing attitude. He has firm believe in himself. He is overconfident as he himself added "it isn''t bragging if you can back it up"
