Motu Patlu On 70 mm; Youth Reporters React

India's favourite awesome twosome from Furfurinagar, Motu Patlu are all set to enthrall children with their maiden theatrical outing, Motu Patlu King of Kings. On their big screen debut, the duo said, “We are super excited to be debuting in a magnum opus 3D stereoscopic film. Children have loved us on the small screen and our new adventures and visual extravaganza will surely entertain and excite them.”

About The Film

Best Friends Motu Patlu are living in a small town in the heartland of India, known as Furfuri Nagariya. Entrapped in a plot with a runaway circus lion, a lion king trying to protect his kingdom and a greedy poacher who wants to ruin the jungle life - Motu Patlu must wage a battle to save the jungle.

Leading names from the Indian film industry have also been roped in to lend their voice for this animation. National award winning duo Vishal Bhardwaj and Gulzar come together again to create a magical track for this animation movie with singer Sukhwinder Singh, who has lent his voice for the soundtrack.

A New Wave For Animation In India

Producer of the film, Ketan Mehta, believes that the animation industry will undergo a sea change once this movie rolls onto the big screen. “ We have been waiting with this idea for much too long. Now, I feel the time has come for us to make full use of animation at its best. This industry was still not explored and I am hoping with Motu Patlu we will take animation to another level. The industry itself is still in its infancy, it’s just 15-year-old while in Hollywood it's an 80-year-old tradition. We have a long way to go”, he said.

Why animation in the first place? “We find the entire gen next is growing up on animation and they are forcing their parents to come and watch the film with them. I think this film will be a turning point in animation movies churned out of Bollywood," Mehta added.

Release

The film, which releases on October 14, is the first ever 3D stereoscopic animated movie for Viacom18 Motion Pictures.

Youth Reporters Say They Would Like To See Kisna On Big Screen Too!

Enough of mythological animation. It's time we explore other characters and events on 70mm. I am waiting eagerly to welcome Motu Patlu. Here's hoping that Ketan Mehta and his team don't churn out something childish, below the mark.

Astha Narang, class IX, Bal Bharati Public School

Who said adults don't enjoy well-made animation movies? My parents love it as much as I do.The only reason why this industry has not thrived in India is because our technology was not at par. At best we could replicate a few 3D impacts. It will be very interesting to see how the directors have used India's most loved Motu Patlu on screen.

Aditya Desai, class VIII, Gyan Bharti School, Delhi

Kids these days are very intelligent. They want animation movies of the standard that they see in Hollywood. I don't know whether we have the wherewithal to churn out such high funda animation. Also, we need powerful stories or strong characters to pull an entire movie. We lack these too.

Ashish Dwivedi, class VI, DPS International School

I would love to see Kisna on the big screen. He is cute and very popular with the kids. A lot of people will relate to Kisna's activities, including elders. I think our animation industry is still limp, we need a lot of substance to churn out the best animation. Long, long, long way to go!

Mihika Rao, Gyan Bharti School

Expert Take

“While making animated films one has to keep in mind the quality of animation, story and the popularity of characters but what is crucial to make a blockbuster of an animation movie is that we need to be careful and intelligent while making films for kids. We can’t take things for granted and make frivolous stuff. No one should make this mistake of taking their intelligence for granted”.

Sushant Singh Rajput, Actor

I believe Indian animation industry mainly focuses on rural areas, orthodox stories and moral values which is not often loved by the world. If we compare this with global animation it seems they are much more appealing and advanced due to modern touch in their stories. I would like to see Shinchan, Doraemon and Pokemon on the big screen.
