Know: Why Can't You Use Phone On Plane?

We all know that commuters are not allowed to use their cellphones on flights. But, why? A video by Life Noggin has the answer. Many believe that phones could radiate energy which in turn could cause interference with aeronautical systems. Even though researchers have found almost no direct evidence of cell phones or other electronic devices interfering with aircraft systems. The RTCA (Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics) while examining the issue in detail too concluded that the fear of electromagnetic interference from electronic devices is misplaced. Still, it suggested the precaution of banning the use of any and all devices during the critical takeoff and landing phases.

Most countries around the world has barred the usage of cell phones on board. But as the issues have been addressed by the new technologies the bans have been lifted. Airfrance was the first airline to allow passengers to use mobile phones on board in 2008.

Yes, the phones should be switched off during the flight because disasters don''t knock your doors before arriving,so it''s better to turn off our cell phones even if keeping them on may not cause any harm because prevention is better than cure.

Yes it''s better to keep the Mobile''s switched off during takeoff and landing as the pilots have to interact frequently with the ground staffs for directions, our mobile use should not be an obstacle. I don''t think that there will be any problem in using mobile after the flight teaches a safe height.

An electronic devices can emit powerful electromagnetic radiation that can muck up an aircraft’s navigation and communication systems . So for the safety, I think it will be wise if we keep our electronic devices off.

I feel that keeping your cell phones switched on aboard a plane can be helpful at the same time can also cause problems. Keeping it switched on will help notify our fellow friends and well wishers notified and also be our guide to help. But it can cause problems like interference of networks due to high speed of the plane. Thus it is important that both cases are analysed critically before passing a judgement about the same.

Yes. I do believe that mobile phones and other electronic gadgets must be turned off. If switching on mobile phones causes electromagnetic radiation , the plane might lose contact with the base. Prevention is better than cure , so , it''s better to keep your phones switched off.

yes, safety is above all

Everything has pros and cons, and so does this. Phones help in emergency communication, and so keeping them on would be a good idea. But about switching them off, I think that if planes require us to do so, the reason must be genuine and so we must comply.

Yes it is for safety reasons. Cell phones need to be turned off because it emits electromagnetic radiation that disturbs the pilot in communicating with the ground controllers. So for a happy journey we should turn off our cell phone.

Ritvik Baweja Bal Bharati Public School

The utmost importance is the safety of the passengers, if for their safety they have to switch of the mobile phones in airplane they should do it. Definitely the infrared rays transmitted by phones can cause an discrepancy in the navigation of the pilot.

Pallavi singh PRESENTATION CONVENT(RED FORT)

As precaution is better than cure I think using cell phones in aeroplanes should be permitted until and unless we have strong evidences to support the argument that there is no harm of using mobiles in the aeroplanes. For this purpose we should also have a tested device for making phone calls that could catch the signals easily before interfering with the aeronotical signals.
