How To Conquer Any Exam!

There is no shortcut to score brilliantly in exams; you have to work hard, trust your teachers' guidance and know your syllabus. Here are a few tips that would come handy.

  1. You got to have a plan: First, you need to decide what percentage you are aiming at, and then you have to dig out the entire syllabus to recognise how you will achieve that number.  Put in writing the chapters that you will focus on and pin-it up on your wall. Remember, you are more likely to work towards your goals, if you write them on a piece of paper.
  2. Manage your time: In life and in exams (and while you are preparing for it), time is the key. If you are able to manage your time properly, not only will you score more and be in control of your preparation, but you will also be less stressed.
    Tips on time management
Practice writing quickly, but not in a haste.
Don't set unrealistic deadline. You cannot revise the entire syllabus in half an hour.
In the exam hall, read the question paper carefully. It's one of the most important things to do.
Divide your time into reading the paper, writing it and then revision.
Start writing your paper with the easiest part, it's better.
Don't leave the examination hall early no matter how tempted you are.
  3. Identify your learning style: How do you like to learn? Do you like to mug up, or do you grasp better when you know the concepts? Are you a pro at theory or you are the master of practical learning? Once, you know what kind of learner you ae your preparation for exams will be more focussed, and result oriented.
  4. Study regularly: Also, do not leave any subject for more than 3-4 days. Else, you might forget what you have practiced.
  5. Concentrate on your areas of improvement: If you feel that there is a certain subject or chapter in which you need to improve, work on that too.
  6. Keep practicing: There is no alternate to it, the more your practice the more you master a subject. Don't miss your pre-boards, the revision classes and other mock drills.
  7. Concentrate: You don't need to sit on your study table for hours, if you can concentrate just for an hour, it will reap the benefits that even several hours of distracted study won’t do.
How are you gearing up for the upcoming exams? Do you have some tips you can share? List them out in the comments section.

During exams, most students get stressed due to the excessive burden of studies. But in my case I keep it in mind that I don''t change my routine. The bit more extra thing I do is I give more time to my studies. And thats the thing that works in my case and gives me full potential..

Thanks....well I am still only in grade 8 so I do not have to prepare for the boards or anything...still time for that. But yeah for the regular final exams which are now of 100 marks and with almost the entire year''s syllabus coming, I really will require this.

Rather than mugging up several guides, first you should have a strong concept within your school books which makes you 90 per cent prepared for exams and then practice some of the sample papers. I think this is more than enough for scoring above 70 per cent in a subject. I follow the same pattern. That''s really very effective.
