Headed For Earth: An Asteroid The Size Of Burj Khalifa

A gigantic asteroid, larger than the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, will hurtle past our planet in around two weeks’ time, warned scientists.

The asteroid
  • Named 2002 AJ129, it has been classed as ‘potentially hazardous’ by NASA and will fly past at speeds of 107,826kmh.
  • This makes it nearly 15 times faster than the world’s quickest manned aircraft – the hypersonic North American X-15, which travelled at 7,300kmh.
  • The asteroid is around 1.1km wide - making it longer than the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, which stands at 0.8km high.
  • It is set to pass by our planet on February 4 at a distance of around 4,208,641km away – which is relatively close in space terms.
  • The distance between the Earth and the moon is 384,400 km.

The impact
  • It is the largest space rock to brush past our planet this year
  • According to scientists, a rock of this size could plunge Earth into a mini-ice age if it hit.
  • The impact would cause average temperatures around the world to fall by as much as 8°C
  • The ‘very severe global impact’ would last several years, causing the world to become a much darker, colder and drier place.

It is too dangerous and risky that an asteroid has headed for earth. But now it is still more shocking that the asteroid is as huge as Burj Khalifa informed by nasa. Though the impacts are given, I wish, hope and pray that there must not be any destruction in any of the places.

According to me it will be really dangerous and can end the whole human race like how it destroyed the dinosaur species stroking it to death and extinction because there was no air and food because all plants and trees were almost dead and exterminated.so I recommend everyone to pray to god and pray the light and the sun to survive.

Let''s be on the bright side.. It is just going to pass, not destruct... Yeah it sounds pretty scary when you hear that it is gonna be really near, but just putting your fingers crossed on Feb 4th just helps. If it falls on earth, Its only Fate for all of us....
