Have Sweet Dreams For Sweet Success

“Always deliver more than expected.”

— Larry Page, co-founder, Google

Ambition and dreams are essential ingredients for success. While ambition helps you to set specific goals in life towards a systematic approach to success, dreams keep the desire alive in your heart to do well in life. Dreams allow you to think big!

Dreams bring in the intangibles into our life. Intangible would in this context mean “Not measurable.” A person who dreams of success may say, “I want to earn a huge amount of money” or “I want to become the best dancer in the country” or “I want to be the best software programmer.” None of these are measurable by numbers. Most successful people in life had big dreams even if they had no means to achieve those.

Story of a boy who dreamt of being rich and became a rich man

Born to a farmer family with little earnings in a village of Uttar Pradesh, Santosh did  not have enough money to pay his fees. Early demise of his father put further pressure on the family. He was good in maths and science; therefore his well wishers asked him to do a diploma in engineering. He went on to do engineering.

Santosh worked for a big company for almost five years. He used the discarded material and put them to good use and saved a huge amount for the company. With so much enthusiasm and energy he thought, “why work for someone for `8,000 per month? Why not start something of my own?”

He started with taking up small painting jobs to paint houses. Every job fetched him a profit of `6,000. He got his first big contract with a multinational firm and started with less than 10 people from his village. His company helped him to get a loan of `50 lakh to buy machines. He established his first office in a small buffalo shed on a rent of `300 per month. Santosh looked after business development and got orders for the company and his friend managed the operations.

Starting small, but with big dreams within a few years the company had a turnover of a few crores. Their work was so good that they bagged a contract with government offices as prestigious as Mantralayas and airports for upkeep and cleaning. The turnover of the company was to the tune of nearly `1,000 crore.

Realise the power of your dreams

This is power of dreams and thinking big. But dreams alone cannot make you big. You have to put in hard work for your dreams to realise. Today there is a government thrust towards entrepreneurship where easy loans and assistance to set up business is available. There are many startup success stories to talk about.
