Are You Up For The Recent Changes In Question Pattern Of Mathematics Exam?

Recently, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced changes in the difficulty level of the mathematics paper for Class XII board exam in 2017. The board's new paper design has increased the marks for 'easy' and 'difficult' level questions by 5% each, while it has decreased the marks of 'average' questions by 10%. The number of 'very short' and 'short' answers will be reduced as well as less marks will be allotted to 'value-based questions'. The paper will be of 100 marks. 

In the past two years, the mathematics paper for Class XII has been of very difficult level. CBSE has given a sample question paper on its official website to make students aware about the question patten.

The new pattern helps the students to focus more on competitive exams as well as it is more concentric towards future aspects for the students who wish to pursue Engineering

On Study Schedule 
- Finish syllabus by November/December.
- Once syllabus is over, practice extra questions (HOTS)
- 20 days before final exam, solve previous year question papers 

Sections to focus on
- Calculus
- 3D geometry
- Linear Programming

On Time Management During Exam
- Solve those questions first which you are confident about
- Always make sure to check/revise the solved questions 
- Solving correctly is more important than attempting extra questions

Books/Sample Papers to Refer To
- R D Sharma (as it has good number of questions for practice)
- R S Aggarwal (the methods used for solving the questions are pretty easy)

The new pattern will help students score better as easy and difficult both questions are given equal and lesser weightage. For average students, this pattern will be beneficial as they can score more. 

On Study Schedule 
- Focus on all the core elements of their syllabus 
- Prepare well in advance 
- Solve more and more past years question papers
 
Sections To Focus On
Calculus, algebra and probability, vectors 3d are topics, which many students find confusing, so these sections will require more practice. 

On Time Management During Exam
Paper is going to be lengthy as more questions have been included in it. The more you practice, the better for you. 
- Practice solving as many papers as possible right from October or so 
- This will help you determine which topics are time consuming and which are more difficult. You can then practice those topics more.
 
Books/Sample Papers to Refer To
There same test paper series available in the market as well as on the web. RD Sharma is definitely a good practice book wherein, you'll find questions across different patterns
