Everyday Should Be Daughters' Day

Daughters' Day Trivia

Celebrated world over on August 11, this day is earmarked to make daughters feel special.

In India

According to Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi, the Daughters' Day and the Daughters' Week are aimed at reducing female foeticide and educating girls.

We are asking people to celebrate the young women and girls in their lives," Mrs Gandhi said adding that the time has come to celebrate women and girls. Women are doing much better now, there's more confidence in them. We want to spread the message that the girl child should be valued.

Why Do We Need To Dedicate A Day For Daughters?

It's very important that we celebrate a day for daughters because people think "she's a burden, she's inferior to a son, she's a bad investment since she will marry and leave for her bridal home".

Here is a list of parents celebrating their daughters in their unique way.
