Un-Democratic Democracy
Corruption in elections is an epidemic. It is now time for action. People have to reject the politics of vendetta and stop equating hooliganism with politics. People are the most powerful entities in a democracy. They need to come out in the open and struggle to protect the integrity of elections and in turn save the future of democracy. For how long will we continue voting for people who just don’t care about us?

Conventional Thinking
It is a typical middle class tendency to push children towards medical, engineering and company secretary jobs, and I am a victim of that. Even before the child is born, the ‘buaji’ declares, “mera bhatija toh engineer hee banega,” and that’s where the ordeal begins. I had opted for physics, chemistry, biology and mathematics with psychology, but because I didn’t perform well in Maths, I opted out of it. That decision was catastrophic. My mother became hysterical and my father said, “now that you’ve left Maths, you’ll soon become psychasthenic”.

World Conflicts
Wars, genocides and conflicts have left a blot on humanity. Shouldn’t we, as world citizens, be concerned that beneath the facade of ‘evolved humanity’ lurks a frightening possibility that mankind is slowly losing the ability to identify the true cause of oppression and suffering?

Gender Stereotypes
Girls and boys should be taken as individuals. There are girls who play sports, and boys who like dressing up. It depends on what you are as an individual. If you think girls are silly, look at PV Sindhu, Mother Teresa and Malala.

Child Labour
Child labour needs to be addressed urgently. Children are the hope and future of a nation. Yet, there are millions of children who would never know what a normal and carefree childhood means.

Heavy Bags
Every student is troubled by heavy bags. School bags weigh down their tiny backs, stunting their physical growth and gives them backache. Schools must do something about it. It will be a good idea to provide us with lockers so that we do not have to carry all the books in our bags.

Violence
Mother Teresa had once said,“not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love”. All that the violence creates is hate and fear. I don’t know what has happened to the ideals of ‘unity in diversity’ and patriotism.

Divide And Rule Policy
The root cause of unrest amongst humans was never God, but humans themselves. While along the way, religion just propagated peace and happiness, it is we who created problems and evil out of it. A sound person wouldn’t use God to divide us, rather he would encourage spirituality through monotheism.

Food wastage
While countries like France have declared a ban on food wastage, other nations have failed to deal adequately with this problem. Every year, one-third of the total food produced is wasted. This, when millions suffer from malnutrition.

Ill treatment of Sr Citizens
The very children whom parents have brought up with love and care, are forgetting their duty towards their elders! Why is the younger generation becoming so insensitive? Do parents raise their children with so much affection only to see this day?
