Come And Join Us To Kick The Plastic Habit

Black plastic trays to pack fresh produce — which cannot be easily recycled — are being phased out by budget chain Aldi in a new attack on waste and pollution. It is doing so through the introduction of new levies and taxes on the trays, which are used to package meat, fish and ready meals.

How can you break your plastic habits? Join us in our campaign... Send us your views under the subhead NIE campaign at toinie175@gmail.com

Aldi is phasing out the black plastic trays for fresh fruit and vegetables and replacing them with clear plastic alternatives that can be recycled into new products. In theory, this will save 265 tons of plastic a year from going to waste. The clear trays will be used for packing three kinds of tomatoes, purple sprouting broccoli, fresh baby sweetcorn and asparagus.

This is a very good idea to avoid the usage of the normal plastic trays and use these instead and even recycle them. If we people stop using plastic, we can try to think of alternative ways.
