Are Mahatma's Words Relevant Today?

‘In a gentle way, you can shake the world’

Gandhi’s words stand true till date. One can bring revolution without resorting to war. You don’t need to fight to raise your voice against any atrocity.

Manasvi Rawal, class X, Ryan International School, Kharghar

‘An eye for an eye will only make the world blind’

This phrase should not be misinterpreted, it does not mean that if someone violates your freedom you do nothing. You must take action to protect your rights.

Shaina Nagpal, class XII, Riverside School, Ahmedabad

‘Nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated’

Animals symbolise compassion. So, a country that ill-treats animals can’t be termed as a progressive nation. Bapu was absolutely right when he said this.

Nandini Chatterjee, class IX, Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Delhi

‘The main purpose of life is to live & Think rightly’

As stated by Gandhi, it’s very important to be honest to one’s own self. The power of truth is the strongest thing that prevails on earth.

Arka Pravo Sengupta, class XI,  Apeejay School, Kolkata

Yes, this phrase is still applicable even in the 21st century because forcibly we can only make a person do a certain task but when handled in a gentle way we can make a person change his thoughts and do the task willingly.

Onkarpreet Bhavan Vidyalaya

Gandhiji propagated Pacifism, that is, opposition to war and violence. His words stand relevant today, forever shall. Matters can always be settled without violence.

Himanshi Dhawan Saffron Public School

Yes, I strongly think that Mahatma Gandhi''s words are still applicable. One of his sayings, "The Earth has enough resources to satisfy everyone''s need, but not anyone''s greed" is one of my favourites. He actually blamed the exploitive nature of humans for the depletion of resources at the global level. He wanted to replace mass production with the production by the masses which has provided a true picture of the Earth to the people.
