13 Things People Should Stop Doing With Students

Board exam fever is upon us and with students struggling to cope with the unending pressure to perform well, we thought we would step in to help them out. How, you ask? Well, by telling the rest of the world the things they need to stop doing to the person who is appearing for their examination.

In a country like India, where it’s assumed that your board exam results define your future, it’s important we talk about the stress the students undergo. There’s already enough pressure on them to complete their course before the board exams begin, and when the additional pressure from parents and relative kicks in, the situation gets worse.

It’s important we tell our future generations that your 10th and 12th board don’t define you as a human being, and it’s okay to not emerge top of the class. It’s also important that we train the people around the students appearing for their board exams to be considerate and encouraging. Here are 13 things we need others to stop doing during board exams.

1. Don’t ask them how prepared they are. It adds to their anxiety.

2. Don’t compare them with their siblings or cousins.

3. Don’t judge them on their choice of subject.

4. Don’t tell them to study in the morning, when they clearly study at night, or vice versa.

5. Don’t treat them differently just because they are appearing for their boards.

6. Don’t make board exams a life-changing event.

7. Don’t give advice when they didn’t ask.

8. Don’t nag them about what how well they fared in their exam.

9. Don’t call them up and ask about their results.

10. Don’t force your subject choices on them.

11. Don’t stop them from doing their everyday activities during boards

12. Don’t take away their leisure time, whether it’s spending time on social media or going out with friends.

13. Don’t tell them they are irresponsible, rather encourage them to take charge of their own careers.

I completely agree! Oh God! I was doing well in my exams till 9th std, when everyone forced me to learn I lost interest in studies and now I''m getting utterly low marks. Please don''t make a student hesitate studies. We are already doing well, but your pressure on us spoils everything.

yes ... ofcourse one must not pressurize them to do this and that either one must encourage them because in this age mind is partially getting mature and they how they can tackle to the problems and in addition if we force them they would loose hope and gradually lost confident .

True! Pressure leads to anxiety and that results in low scores because of lack of confidence. Students should be encouraged everytime.

I completely agree! Parents should understand what their child loves to do or what he/she loves to learn and read. Parents should support their children and should not compare with other child in their class or with their siblings. When we get compared with others, we feel like our parents doesn''t like us.
