New iPhones May Ditch Charging Port

Apple killed the 3.5mm jack in 2016 with the iPhone 7 and it seems that the Cupertino-based tech giant is set to bid adieu to the Lighting port also.

According to famous tipster and former KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s research note with TF International Securities (via MacRumors), Apple is said to launch a “high-end” iPhone without the Lighting port in 2021 that will give the users "completely wireless experience.”

An excerpt from Kuo’s note, as per Mac Rumors reads, “Apple will create more differentiation between the highest-end and high- end models. It will benefit the shipment of the highest-end model and iPhone ASP. Among new 2H21 iPhone models, we expect that the highest-end model would cancel the [Lightning] port and provide the completely wireless experience.”

Looking at 2019’s lineup, the Pro model iPhones — iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max — are the high-end iPhones. With them, Apple for the first time gave a 18W fast charger out-of-the-box. Apple has traditionally sold fast chargers separately for all iPhones. This is the first time when a fast charger is being shipped with the iPhones but it is with the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Before the launch of 2019 iPhones, it was suggested that Apple may ditch the Lighting port but it was claimed that the company would adopt a USB Type-C port instead of that. But this tip from Kuo hints that the most-expensive iPhone of 2021 may offer only wireless charging connectivity.

Notably, if and when the company decides to take this leap, it is likely that such an iPhone is accompanied with a device similar to that of AirPower mat.

Even though the project has been cancelled back in March, at that time Dan Riccio, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering said, “We continue to believe that the future is wireless and are committed to push the wireless experience forward.”

I think that this concept of Apple would either help in getting more popularity or any help in its business....In my opinion...apple is just sorting things to get more complicated....Last time, they just removed the audio jack and again brought headphones specially designed for it...In my view ..this is making things more complicated...
