In Your Brain Is The Future

Can you operate computers with your mind? Can your thoughts control an animal’s movement? Can you fly like a bird? Can you print an organ just like you print assignments? Can you... Yes, you can! And why should you not? There are several instances in history which prove that technology, which at one point of time was considered a figment of the imagination became a reality sooner or later. For example, an iPad-like device first appeared in ‘Star Trek’. So, when Tesla founder Elon Musk recently launched a company that would link the brain to computers, we could just imagine the keyboard and the mouse counting their days.

If you tell your grandparents that a space rocket can now go to space, come back and even be reused, they will give you one tight slap! Would they not! After all, who would have thought that space vehicles could land back just like any other aircraft, but Tesla and SpaceX CEO and founder Elon Musk made it possible with the company’s Falcon 9 rocket. You’ve got to praise this man because now he  has launched a company, Neuralink Corp, which will develop technology that will allow you to upload and download using your thoughts. While you and we remain in awe of this information, here’s more on the technology that was once thought to be impossible.

Iron Man-Like Armour: The US Military’s newest suit TALOS seems to be inspired by the Iron Man suit. It can deal with bullets and is fitted with computer and antennas that help the military to exchange information from the outside. This sounds so much like Jarvis, doesn’t it? However, the suit cannot fly and there is no AI like Jarvis.

Hoverboard: These were first described by author M K Joseph in 1967 and popularised by the ‘Back to the Future’ film franchise. The same film also first hinted at the self-tying shoes laces as you would have seen in Nike Mag. Go, google

3 D Printer, iPad, Google Glass, Flip phones: Frankly, you never know when a Star Trek gadget becomes a reality. For example, the Star Trek PADD became iPad, Star Trek Replicator became 3D Printers, Star Trek communicators became flip phones. The tech in this franchise is so seriously futuristic!

Films that explore the future of technology

Iron Man (2008–2013): There has to be something right about a superhero film inspiring a real life military suit.

Her (2013): Falling in love with your comp’s operating system soudns too far-fetched right now, but you can never be sure about the future.

Tron franchise (2010): Did you know that you can actually buy the tron bike?

The Matrix trilogy (1999–2003): Last year Musk had said that we are living in a Matrix-like simulation. Besides this, scientists have successfully implanted an artificial memory system in animals just like it was shown in this film.

Why You Must Watch Out For Elon Musk
  • Every time he is in the news, tech addicts know that there is something big coming up.
  • The 45-year-old businessman is going after technology like none of his contemporaries
  • He’s making space affordable and accessible to all.
  • Hyperloop, which will make travelling on the ground faster than airlines, and cheaper than trains, is Elon's brainchild.
  • Every name that matters wants to drive a Tesla one day. Musk is the CEO of Tesla.
  • He is big time into solar energy.
  • He made reusing space rockets possible.

What’s next?
Hyperloop: George Clooney’s ‘Tomorrowland’ showed a hyperloop. It uses pressure-controlled tubes to transport people.
AI: Even though Artificial Intelligence is already making its presence felt, its real capabilities are yet to be seen.
VR: Just like AI, even VR is in a sketchy stage right now, but with the pace at which it is evolving, Virtual Reality will yeild bigger results.
Exoskeleton: These are wearable mobile machines. Watch ‘Pacific Rim’ for reference.
