‘Worst’ Apps For Smartphone’s Battery

The battery life on smartphones has always been a touchy issue for most smartphone users. Though battery life of smartphones depends on the phone's built and specifications, our usage too affects it. Smartphones hog large amount of data as we edit documents, stream music or videos, play games, and stay connected over the internet all the time through apps. While all these apps consume battery, there are some who are bigger culprits than the others. Below is a list of apps you should uninstall right away if you want to boost your smartphone's battery life.

Photo-editing apps

If you are a photography enthusiast who likes to take images, edit them to make it dramatic, and share it on social media, then you should carry a portable charger at all times. Photo-editing apps are generally heavy in size and require a lot of processing power to edit images. Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop Express and Pixlr Express too are of the same ilk when it comes to consuming battery.

Social media apps

Facebook is surely the most popular smartphone app, but at the same time it also among the most battery-draining apps. The app keeps running in the background as it sends notifications. Not just Facebook, its Messenger app too exhausts the smartphone's battery. Other heavy social-media apps include Snapchat, Skype and Instagram.

Internet browser apps

You can uninstall extra browser apps from your smartphone as all of them already come with a default browser app. Some of the apps include more features like news, scoreboards, notification from social media websites and more, all of which stay active in the background to give you instant access to content but at the same time they also help in draining out the battery life of your handset.

Gaming apps

It might be difficult to uninstall these from smartphones, but the fact is that some gaming apps too consume battery. 3D animation games like Asphalt, Injustice, Modern Combat and more drain the smartphone's battery life faster than all of the above. Even the newly-launched Pokemon Go augmented reality app too sucks the battery at faster levels. In case if you don't want to uninstall any of the apps, you can simply force stop them. However, tapping on it would once again activate the app.

Battery-saver apps

Battery saver or RAM cleaning apps are the ones that silently run in the background even if the smartphone is sitting idle. These apps on a regular basis keep scanning the handset for battery-hogging apps or junk files, and clean or shut them down without giving users a slightest hint.

Anti-virus apps

Anti-virus apps, just like the battery-saver and RAM-management apps, run in the background periodically, scanning the complete smartphone and fixing the potential threats. It is also worth noting that the more the number of apps, the longer it takes to scan the smartphone and drains out more battery. Some anti-virus apps even have access to camera, which they use to capture the image of the person who is trying to unlock your handset. While it's a nifty feature, but is also a drain on your battery.

What according to you are the best ways to make your smartphone battery last longer? Let's know your views in the comments below.
