Annual exhibition at La Maternelle School

The annual exhibition of La Maternelle was held recently amidst great fanfare. This year a beautiful power-point presentation too was made by the students of class V on 150 years of Mahatma Gandhi and on Mangal Mission and its photos from the satellite. The LMS film festival corner too attracted the visitors. The films made by the Heritage Club were filmed at our Annual Exhibition. This corner was a big crowd puller and was a great novelty. This year our film club made a film on Metcalfe Hall “A Journey Down Memory Lane”, Shola work called ‘Green Ivory” and on Patachitra – a form of rural art of Bengal.

The science corner was as usual very innovative and had some interesting experiments like uniform strength of a solution, density of liquids, Ph scale using a red cabbage as a natural indicator, lava formation, electric current with a pencil, siphon, remote control car, vacuum cleaner, windmill, creation of multiple images, rain water harvesting, optical illusion, inclined plane and pop us balloon. The crowd was glued to the science corner as the children were really enthusiastic to explain the concepts behind their experiments.
The art and craft corner showcased the various skills of children big and small. This corner added colour and variety to the exhibition with various items created from varied items. A lot of upcycling was observed. Children used old newspapers and old plastic bottles to create a piece of art.A  beautiful Ganesha idol was made of an old plastic soft drink bottle. The many splashes of colours made the hall cheerful and vibrant. There was a beautiful ship made of shola, flowers made from ice cream sticks, vase made of cotton ear buds, cups and saucers made from matchsticks,a  dog made of old used boxes to name a few.
The exhibition was a grand success that set new and higher levels for the years to come. The crowd that thronged the event were all praises for the enthusiastic efforts of the students and staff members.
Last and not the least was the healthy food counter outside which distributed amla — Indian gooseberry to all parents and talked about the benefits of this amazing edible fruit which is so rich in vitamin C and should be consumed in Winters. It is a nutrition packed fruit that works brilliantly in most parts of the body.It makes us stay well during winters.
At the end of the exhibition there were prizes given to the best exhibits as well as the experiments.
