Anil Gunjal addresses students at Epiphany; Students of classes IX and X with their parents attend the session

‘Parents Should Not Just Raise Their Children But Should Grow With Them,’ Says Educator

Saturday, July 30, being a holiday for the Epiphany School, the school’s St. Hildas hall was full of parents and students of classes IX and X. It was a special occasion, as Anil Gunjal, assistant secretary of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education his student Prof. Ravi Ware were there to address the gathering.

The programme started with Savita Sawant reciting a beautiful poem and welcoming the guests. She introduced Prof. Ravi Ware, who used to teach students of a diploma college and later shifted to teaching school children because he found that the basics of students were not concrete. Addressing the parents, he said that parents should not just raise their children but should also grow with them.

Prof. Ravi Ware went on to explain how half of the career options today depend on the understanding of Mathematics. He said, "Math is not a difficult subject once we know why and how to master it." He explained the triangular and the hexagonal theory to help master Algebra and Geometry. He said the aim of any educational system must be to enable a student to be a teacher to him. After the session, students seemed to be much confident, as if they had found the master key to conquer one of the most dreaded subjects.

Sawant then introduced chief guest Anil Gunjal. He shared anecdotes which were funny and full of wisdom too. The students related to them immediately. Gunjal gave examples of various students who had struggled in class IX but with self study and a lot of dedication had achieved success at the SSC examination. He said, self study is the best way to study. He said that the aim of education is neither marks, nor money, but to make a person a good human being. He pointed out that most students in classes IX and X and their parents just focus on academics and completely ignore the health factor. He concluded by emphasising that 'health is wealth' and one should lead a happy and healthy life come what may.

At the end, both Gunjal and Prof. Ravi Ware shared their contact details and urged students to contact them in case of doubts or any queries.
