Empowering students with entrepreneurial skills

Young Entrepreneur Academy (YEA) presented an exciting array of innovative ideas at the investor panel session, partnered and hosted by the American School of Bombay (ASB) at Bandra Kurla complex.  The event provided a platform to student innovators to exhibit their inventions, prototypes, and business skills to the judges and the audience.

This year, more than 250 students across six cities in India came up with 175 ideas over a period of six months. Out of which, 15 inspiring ideas across varied domains like fashion, environment, travel, online marketing, library, catering, personal safety etc. were showcased by the student innovators to the audience at ASB.

Apart from explaining the utility value of the product, the student innovators also highlighted the technical know-how, required operational knowledge and manufacturing process, investment needed, marketing strategy, vision, and other important aspects like competitions and profit.

Their business skills were further tested by the judges who posed queries pertaining to their ideas.  Some of the YEA alumni who had made a special trip to the occasion shared their learning, experience, and successes. The judges for the event were Vishal Kampani, Sandeep Murthy, Ashutosh Parekh, and Aniket Dey from the financial, investment, media, and startup sectors.

Some of the notable ideas presented by the ASB students at the investor panel session included radiation blocking mobile cover by Naman, mini-box of ready-use, daily articles by Renee, and digital platform for talent management by Arav, leaving judges impressed and audience excited to know more about them.

In the words of the parents, “We are happy that ASB is partnering with YEA and actively engaging with children across the country to nurture young minds with solution-providing attitude. It also empowers the rise of a whole new generation of entrepreneurs.”

YEA India is a US franchise that teaches entrepreneurship to 11 to 18-year-olds in a fun and hands-on manner through speaker engagements, strategic planning, field trips, mentors, and a shark tank-style investor panel where students get real funding. ASB is the first school in the country to partner with YEA India for the benefit of the nationwide student community.
