Celebrating All Things French

On Monday, the students of Ambitus World School celebrated Bastille Day with great enthusiasm and zeal at the sports complex of the school.
The performances of the students showed their exquisite interest in the subject and the country of France. In France, July 14 is celebrated as the French National Day to commemorate the Storming the Bastille (a state prison in France) and to celebrate the unity of the French. The objective of the celebrations was to mark the day and advocate the importance of French and the relevance of learning it at school level.
This year, the French students from classes IV-X under the guidance of the French teachers shouldered the entire responsibility of the celebrations which were held against a music-themed backdrop. 'C'est tout de la musique' commenced with a welcome song in French by the girls of class X. This left the audience astounded and curious as the lyrics were new, yet soothing to the ears.
A beautiful ballet by the students of class VIII was the next performance which was followed by a melodious choir, 'Vois Sur Ton Chemin', a song from the French film 'Les Choristes' by the class VI students.
Next, was a glorious performance of 'Ego' originally by Willy William. It was extremely exciting to see the class VII students dancing to the vocal music by class X students. The class IV students performed an adorable paired dance. The sports complex erupted with applause when the teachers got on to the stage to shake a leg with the little dancers. The celebrations concluded with a melodious song ‘Le Monde Nous Appartiendra’ by the children united by the girls of class X.
The programme was then wrapped with a vote of thanks and an address by principal Babitha Srikumar. She complimented the students on their splendid efforts in showcasing such a marvelous event.
