Class X Students Guided On Career Options
Over 750 attendees including students of class X and their parents attended the seminar on career guidance

A career guidance seminar was organized by ICAD School of Learning, at College of Engineering, Pune (CoEP), Shivajinagar recently. Over 750 attendees including 450 students of class X and their parents from over 50 Times NIE member schools attended the seminar. ICAD, a training academy, has been training students to help them enter reputed colleges and institutions across the country and abroad.
The idea was to help students realize the need to be future-ready by exposing them to different career streams. The participants were selected on basis of the cut-off marks obtained in the LEAP (Learning Enhancement Activation Programme) test conducted in the respective schools.
Sarang Upganlawar, founder and director, ICAD School of Learning addressed the gathering giving them an overview of the career options available after class X. Opportunities in arts, science, commerce and more were covered. Aspirants were also guided about the competitive exams, entrance tests to be taken for entering the premium institutes like the Indian Institutes of Technology, National Institute of Technology, government colleges as well as for studying abroad. He also elucidated the approach followed by most toppers and emphasised on sincere studying and allotting dedicated hours on the study table to yield expected results.
"To lead a promising life, one has to appear for competitive exams - be it medical, engineering, government or others. It is important for students to be mentally prepared and understand what it takes to qualify in these exams," said Upganlawar.
A one-to-one counselling session was also held for the parents and students to clear their doubts and personal queries.
"The session helped us gain factual information on career options, choice of colleges and importantly, the preparation required for the competitive exams," said Deepali Davalbhakta, a parent of St. Mary's School who attended the session.
Preksha Garg of The Bishop's School, Kalyani Nagar said, "It was a very informative session. Since I wish to pursue engineering, the presentation helped me to understand the performance required in CET and JEE Advanced exams. The major take home was that one needs to be honest, consistent and patient to achieve success."
