Two amazing dogs helped to save their owners lives.

Bessie, a border collie alerted the Wood family that their daughter Philippa was not ok.
Border collie Bessie alerted Philippa Wood's parents when she began acting strangely around the two-year-old and refused to leave her side.
They took her to the doctor who made a potentially life-saving diagnosis of early lymphoblastic leukaemia. Bessie comes from a family who appear to have an incredible sixth sense. Earlier this year a dog from the same bloodline detected her owner's breast cancer.
Philippa's dad Philip, 30, said: "We have so much to thank Bessie for. She was acting quite strangely around Philippa before we had her diagnosed. She wouldn't leave her side. If it wasn't for the dog we might not have acted so quickly. Because of her behaviour we knew there was something wrong." Until Bessie began acting protectively Philippa's symptoms were put down to a not nasty bug or virus. But now the toddler, from Brotton, near Saltburn-by-the-Sea, North Yorks, is about to begin her second round of chemotherapy. Philip added: "Looking at her, you wouldn't know she has leukaemia. It's still early in her treatment, there's more to come. "The drugs she'll be given will take her hair and make her lose more weight."

Meg, another collie wouldn't leave her owner Julia's side till the latter went to a doctor
Julia Folland, 55-year-old at first ignored chest have pains, putting them down to a strain from walking her six dogs. It was only when seven-year-old Meg, a collie, refused to leave her and wouldn't let others near that she began to suspect something was wrong. Julia said: "She's such a clever dog, it made me realise something must be wrong so I booked a doctor's appointment." She then discovered she had breast cancer. Meg and Bessie were bred by Brenda Swinbank of Stokesley, North Yorks.

Both Bessie and Meg come from a long line of super dogs
Bessie is from the same bloodline as the collie Meg.
Julia said she met Philippa's mum Paula at the weekend on a sponsored walk. She added: "It was amazing when we got talking and realised our stories were so similar and even more incredible that the dogs are from the same breeder. "Philippa's family and mine have so much to be thankful to our dogs for. Bessie acted the same way as Meg had, she wouldn't leave Philippa's side. That was enough to make them realise something could be seriously wrong. It meant both Philippa and I were diagnosed early and of course that can be a lifesaver. "The dogs have both shown this amazing sixth sense, I dread to think about the outcome if they hadn't been there for us."

Earlier this week former Beverly Hills 90210 star Shannen Doherty revealed that her dog Bowie was the first to detect she had breast cancer. The 45-year-old told a US TV show: "She would obsessively sniff right here on my right side for a long time before I was got diagnosed."

Dogs are indeed a human''s best friend. My dog too started acting anxious once he sensed an air of tension around him when we found that two snakes were in our garage and backyard. Maybe he didn''t have anything to do to save us, but his anxiousness did ensure me that had he seen even one of the two cobras, he would risk his life to save his family''s.
