Indian Customs And Scientific Verification

This blog is intended to spotlight the facts about India, that have been erased from history. India has been rich in culture, religion, tradition, science, literature and prosperity since ever it was found to be existed and before as well. We have been grown up without knowing our prosperity, which is a must. Indians should not lose their pride, uniqueness and whatever. Here are some facts-

Why are mantras chanted with a rhythmic sound?

Manthras are some written scripts/Vedhas that are chanted during auspicious days and in temples. But why are they chanted in a rhythmic manner? Is it not effective when we just read it???

Om or Aum (also Auṃ, written in Devanagari as ॐ and as ओम्, in Sanskrit known as praṇava प्रणव [lit. "to sound out loudly"], Omkara, or Auṃkāra (also as Aumkāra) ओंकार. Aum is a sacred/mystical symbol of Indian religions Viz.., Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism and Sikhism.

Aum is placed at the beginning of most Hindu texts as a sacred incantation to be intoned at the beginning and end of a reading of the Vedas or prior to any prayer or mantra. The syllable consists of three phonemes, a (Vaishvanara), u (Hiranyagarbha) and m (Iswara), which symbolize the beginning, duration, and dissolution of the universe and the associated gods Brahma,Vishnu, and Shiva, respectively.

The aum symbol is a ligature of Devanagari. The syllable aum is first described as all-encompassing mystical entity in the Upanishads. Today, in all Hindu art and all over India and Nepal, ‘aum’ can be seen virtually everywhere, a common sign for Hinduism and its philosophy and theology. Hindus believe that as creation began, the divine, all-encompassing consciousness took the form of the first and original vibration manifesting as sound “AUM”. Before creation began it was “Shunyākāsha”, the emptiness or the void. Shunyākāsha, meaning literally “no sky”, is more than nothingness, because everything then existed in a latent state of potentiality.

The vibration of “AUM” symbolizes the manifestation of God in form (“sāguna brahman”). “AUM” is the reflection of the absolute reality, it is said to be “Adi Anadi”, without beginning or the end and embracing all that exists. The mantra “AUM” is the name of God, the vibration of the Supreme. When taken letter by letter, A-U-M represents the divine energy (Shakti) united in its three elementary aspects: Bhrahma Shakti (creation), Vishnu Shakti (preservation) and Shiva Shakti (liberation, and/or destruction).

According to Hinduism Aum (OM) is the origin of creation as mentioned earlier. That is the whole universe was created from vibrations. This was not accepted by the western people until 1960’s. The modern String theory describes the entire universe to be made up of vibrating strings!

There are no point particles in string theory, but only one dimensional vibrating structures called strings (which can be thought of similar to vibrating guitar/violin strings). Different modes of vibration of these strings is perceived by us as different particles! In other words, for instance a quark is nothing but an electron, but whose string is vibrating differently! So finally we come to a point that the whole universe is messed up with vibrations.

When the mantra is chanted with the respective rhythm it hinders the hormones and initiates the activity of brain and other internal organs of the human body. This cures the hormone related problems in the human body. It is not necessary that you should chant mantras it is enough to receive the vibrations by hearing it. And thats why Hindus insist mantras should not be chanted wrongly which ends in drastic effects. Isn’t it Amazing???

YES. My father one day asked me the significance of joining both our hands/palms while greeting someone. I didn''t know. He then told me that joining both hands ensures joining the tips of the fingers together which are denoted to the pressure points of eyes, ears, and mind. Pressing them together activates the pressure points which helps us remember that person for a long time. And, no germs since we don’t make any physical contact as that done by foreigners!!!

We always have spicy food n the starting and dessert at the end. The significance of this eating practice is that while spicy things activate the digestive juices and acids and ensure that the digestion process goes on smoothly and efficiently, sweets or carbohydrates pulls down the digestive process. Hence, sweets are always recommended to be taken at the last.
