Barack Hussein Obama, the 44th President of the United States, was born on August 4, 1961, in Honolulu, Hawaii. His mother - Stanley Ann Dunham- was from Kansas, and father - Barack Obama Sr - from Kenya. With the help of scholarship money and student loans, he completed his education at Occidental College in Los Angeles, Columbia University in New York, and later, Harvard Law School.

In 1985, Obama moved to Chicago, where he was introduced to community service and worked help rebuild communities that were devastated by the closure of local steel plants. Obama considers those period as the time of his life that gave him 'the best education that he ever had.' It was in 1996 when Obama was elected to the Illinois State Senate. He is known to have passed the first major ethics reform in 25 years, cut taxes for working families, and expanded health care for children and their parents. He was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2004, and sworn in as the President of the United States on January 20, 2009. He was the first African-American to be selected for the top job. He is married to Michelle Obama, and has two daughters, Malia and Sasha.
