Bullet Train Foundation By PM Modi & Abe

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe laid the foundation stone for the India's first bullet train project. Comparing India's rail network with Japan's population, Modi said that the number of people travel in trains in a week in India is the same as the total population of Japan. "Railway institution in Vadodara will provide modern training to youths in Vadodara. Though we are getting the technology from Japan, most of the parts will be accommodated from India," added prime minister Modi.

The roadshow in Ahmedabad

Before that Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, his wife Akie, and PM Narendra Modi took an open-top vehicle ride from Ahmedabad airport to Sabarmati Ashram on the first day of Abe’s visit to India. The two leaders will hold formal talks.

To Sabarmati

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Sabarmati Ashram with Japanese premier Shinzo Abe, soon after he arrived in Gujarat for a two-day visit.

Abe's message to India

“I believe that Japan-India relationship is blessed with the largest potential in the world, and I am determined that Japan and India will lead the way towards peace and prosperity of the Indo-Pacific region and the world, hand in hand with Prime Minister Modi,” the PMO quoted Abe as saying in a Twitter release.

Why is Abe in India?

Abe, the prime minister of Japan, is here for the 12th annual India-Japan summit. He and Modi are expected to inaugurate the start of the $17 billion high-speed rail project between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, and sign several agreements on strategic, financial and development cooperation.
