Your hips don't lie

- It boosts self-esteem - In 2007 study conducted by the Laban and Hampshire Dace, the UK, children who took part in activities that enhanced creative movement classes reported improved self-esteem, motivation, and more positive attitudes.

-  It helps you find a mate - Apart from his theory of ‘survival of the fittest’ - Charles Darwin also suggested dancing also performs and aids in sexual selection. Male peacocks do dance to gain the affection of a pea hen. research shows that women when quizzed on the what attracts them to dancing prowess of men, answered the perfect man would shake his head, bend his torso and twist the right knee in keeping with the music beats.

- It tackles depression - A dancing session induces periods of relaxing, reduced stress and lightness. But dancing in a constricted manner - evoked a completely opposite feeling.

-  It helps solves problems - Just five minutes of free styling - you grooving to the wildest of beats in an uncoordinated or co-ordinated manner is enough to increase your creativity. In a study conducted by the University of Wolverhampton, researchers noticed that amongst the participants who were asked to danced, sit quiet, or listen to music, it was the dancing ones who were the quickest to solve a problem presented to them.

-  It relieves pain - Dancing it seems, releases endorphins that help to take out the pain, which a player might feel in a group sort. For eg, before every rugby game, the New Zealand All Blacks perform the haha - an act that not only forms a strong team bond, but also helps ease the pain, a study found out.
