Srimathi: Why Don't We Talk About The Women In Cricket?

When a guy plays cricket with his friends it is a very common occurrence but when a girl prefers a bat to her barbie dolls and kitchen set games it is considered a very weird behaviour

Ask a person about the men's cricket team,he would not hesitate to tell the list of all the players and their bio data too.But ask an India if he knows who the captain of the women's cricket team is he would probably reply,"do we have an Indian women's cricket team?" How many of us know that the women's world cup is on the go?When it's the men's world cup the whole nation is set to celebrate.

All the ticket counters are filled and the satdium get filled with echoes of"Dhoni Rocks! or East or West Kohli is the best!! "and son on.But why is that the country refuses to recognise women in a cricket team? When Indian women could stand up to the world in an international level like in olympics why can't they succeed in Cricket?Or is it the same old stereotype that men play it better.

Why does the society always refuse to treat men and women equally? But,besides all these the women's cricket team is performing great in the world cup and are creating a tough time for the others. It's high time we break all the prejudices against women and start treating them equally.India would stand up to the world only when both the the gender work hand-in-hand to make the nation a superpower

Thanks to the mindset of the Indian patriarchal society, women are still dominated and justice is not done to their dreams. Today, the 21st Indian century women is reaching new horizons and is scripting new roles. Today modern woman is so deft and self-sufficient that she can be easily called a superwoman, juggling many fronts single-handedly. The Indian women demands opportunity and the Indian male-dominated society is compelled to give it to her.

Nowadays, the Women''s World Cup is going on in full swing in England and Wales. I have been following India''s matches and I''ve got to know half the Indian women squad. Women cricket has started interesting me. Yes, cricket has been called the gentleman''s game but it''s high time this tagline is changed a bit, isn''t it? Recently, Indian opener Smriti Mandhana scored a brilliant century against the Windies. I appreciate the Team India''s efforts and I hope they get some recognition.

Though we say now it has changed, still indirectly women are not given more preference. We people fail to look at the wonderful side. We enjoy women power in a movie like Dangal and Mary Kom. But why don''t we support them in sports. We give much importance to cricket than any other game. So we should concentrate in women team to.

Cricket is first played in England and men are popular to play this game than women.after British people came India.Indian people showed interest in Cricket.only British forces can play this game so the game is popular in men not women

The reason is quite simple, ADVERTISING area is not much active and so as the sponsors and hence world famous television chanels decline to produce them out! Once it''s not available out on famous channels, it obvious that people don''t watch and there is no popularity in India!

Thank you for bringing this issue into limelight I hope women are sponso re e better at least after this

Stupid, idiot Indians are still narrow-minded !

ABHIGYAN SINGH Harmony International School , Kharghar

We do not focus on women cricket team because we think there is nothing in women criket.

Ananya Singh Harmony International School , Kharghar

That is because of the mindset of some people that women can''t do anything. But people should change their views as now girls are doing good in every field that is education, playing, etc. People should stop thinking such things and treat both girls and boys equally.

I think we should treat men and women eqally in every thing whether it is sports or studies and encourage them to make the country proud and we should not do any stereotype on anybody of them . Smriti mandhana took 5 wickets from PAKISTAN and also won the match which men could not do.

This is absolutely a true fact.People might say that they have done a lot to encourage equal status for women. But somewhere we women are still considered not so equal to men in all perspectives.Women playing cricket has never been promoted like the Men Cricket.Never given a serious glance.

you are extremely right but though i will start watching women''s world cup thank u for making me realize.

Asmita, those words you used to describe Indians are derogatory, my friend.

Akshita Pandey LILAVATI BAI PODAR (A)-SCRUZ

I completely agree with what Ayushi has said. Asmita, these words were surely very insulting. People should start watching women''s cricket as they have started emerging very well. I was completely impressed with their performance in the women''s world cup. People do not talk about women cricket because they think that seeing men play cricket is more appropriate than women playing cricket which is completely wrong. If they start talking about women''s cricket

Akshita Pandey LILAVATI BAI PODAR (A)-SCRUZ

It will create an awareness about women and the things that they can do and what they are capable of.

Women are also capable of the ''boys'' type games . Its not that only boys can play well ,girls are also forward. Why do we see boys match and not girls? People think that girls are not so good as boys but girls will bang on one day and show what they are. Girls are also talented as boys , at times they are even stronger that boys .

I just hate the way women are treated in our so-called stereotype society! According to them, women are not capable for holding a bat. It just highlights the gender inequality in our society. But it is good that the mindset of typical people is changing.

womens are playing a very good game and there are hope that they would definitely win the WORLD CUP
