Shourya S: Should Politics Be Discussed In School?

We children know a good amount about politics. What we should do, is for example, discuss the presidential candidates and what good and what bad things they can do for the country. We shoudn't pick sides because that can lead to arguments and futile debates. The kids who keep up with politics enjoy expressing their opinion and it would be good for them to learn more about it. What is your opinion?

I do not think politics should be discussed in school as children are too young to decide .Discussing politics in college has not reaped many good benefits and thus politics should not be discussed in the classroom

Prathamesh Kandale HILLGREEN SCHOOL

There''s nothing wrong in discussing politics with our friends unless it is discussed silently and without making a loud debate over it.Also we should discuss it within certain limits.By discussing such political matters silently,we are able to gather different opinions and knowledge is gained by hearing everyone''s views.

Vishnupriya Saji Army Public School, PRTC

I too feel that politics must be discussed in schools because kids are the future generations of a country and it is necessary that they get to know everything about their country to grow up into a responsible and aware citizen of India.

Nabila Mulla WORD & DEED HIGH SCHOOL

I agree with Prathamesh. There''s nothing wrong in discussing politics with our friends unless it is discussed silently. We should not make a large debate over it. It''s better we do it in our limits. But if we cross our limits, it''s really harmful.

Aishwarya Iyer Deens Academy

I agree with Prathamesh too. I believe there''s nothing wrong in discussing politics so that we are aware of multiple opinions and also get experience in debating. Politics is an integral part of our country or for that matter, any country and discussions over it are good to have. However, these debates should not turn ugly and limits should be maintained.

Mitra Pal Stratford Day School

We all live in the largest democracy of the world and today''s students are tommorrow''s future..Everyone has the right to know and debate the policies of the government..because our nation is empowered by it''s citizens..and politics are part of our daily lives..So according to me, if students have the right knowledge about politics..they can create a better nation tommorrow!

I think Politics should be discussed in school. it will help the students look at the world through different perspectives. It is true that they are too young to make decisions but there is no harm in exchanging opinions. If a few start doing this then others would be intrigued and encouraged to know about the happenings of the world. I think this will have a positive outcome.

I think that all the things that are happening in politics should be discussed in school. There is nothing wrong in that .Children should know that what is happening around them

Roma Ramcoumar Bethel Mat Hr Sec School

Why not ?? Politics Is similar to current affairs .Politics also convey messages with morals In my point of view .

Mansi Borade PADUA HIGH SCHOOL-MANKHURD

According to me,the Politics should not be discussed in schooling age.Their should be an particular age to discuss on Politics. Because,In schooling age we don''t have that much enough knowledge to get discussed on this topics.

JOMILIN JOHN ST.ANTHONY'S SR.SEC SCHOOL

I get overwhelmed when debates and discussions are raised on politics in our class. Just reading and fliping the pages of our political science book during exams just makes us to gain knowledge about a specific subject for a mere period of time rather topics of political concern needs to be put up before the children and they should be asked the views for the same. We are the growing young generation of the country and we too have the right to discuss and ponder over what is right and just.

tehzeeb THE GURUKUL PKL-SEC-20

Kids are as much citizens of the country as adults are . Moreover we all have right to express our views on things going on in the nation especially politics. It''s always good to have healthy discussion or even debates on politics. After all,who knows that we become the leaders of the future.

I feel that it is absolutely fine to discuss politics in school as this is the age where children can learn to decide what is right and what you should stand up for. Considering the fact that students are the future generation of India and they will be the ones who will later elect the government, i feel that if we discuss politics in school, children will start to identify and analyse the advantages and disadvantages of each aspect, and therefore make more prudent decisions.
