Shalini Shant: Is Religion Necessary?

Religion is for people who do not have self-direction. If you were born with the fear of god, you would think that religion is necessary. If you were not born with the fear of god, you are more likely to think more logically and not spiritually. You are more likely to realise that religion and gods don't make any sense, and are not necessary for humans. Religion actually, doesn't make sense. Evolution does. I respect the idea of religion, how it gives people who have no self direction good morals and ethics. But there is other ways to accomplish that.

We have born with our self beliefs and religion, but it is not necessary that religion must be a back bone of ours.We must be known by our talent but not by our background. As we are Indian,India is a country known for its culture. So,I don''t think religion must be our backbone.

Actually, before the religion has born, there so many bad work were takeing place . And to stop that, some people started religion. So, people stopped doing these type of work by fear of God.

Well it''s just a state of mind as it is rightly said that if we think that something exist then for us it''s there but for others it might not be there at all.One important thing to be noted here is that in this progressive and fast developing world, religion holds importance only as long as it is not encouraging negetivity amongst masses.

Fatima Abidi Guru Harkrishan Public School, India Gate

Religion is necessary because it teaches us how to live an ideal life. By following it, one can learn all the good values. People hesitate a lot before doing sins because of the fear of God. The main message of every religion is to spread peace and respect each other. But I should say there is something more important. It is humanity. We''re human being but most of us forget being humans. Being religious is of no use if you don''t follow humanity.

ALINAWAZ KHAN DL DAV PUBLIC SCHOOL(SHALIMAR BAGH)

In simple words, religion teaches us the way how to lead a life of HUMAN. Else cattle too do survive on planet obeying own desire. Absence of religion would leave no place on the earth to live peacefully. In fact, religion is just like a predefined constitution and one can''t expect a successful nation without having proper constitution. There isn''t any existing religion which catalyses inhumane deeds!

Nishi Upadhyay BHARTI PUBLIC SCHOOL (SWASTHYA VHR)

Religion is just a guidance for human beings to tell them how to live their lives and that is important if it is taken in this sense.

Perspectives vary from person to person. The thing lies how we perceive the thing for some religion may appear to be an absurd, vague idea but for some it is their set of rulebook which guides their lives. Religion won''t appear to be a problem if some people won''t use it to accomplish their fallacious deeds. Religion was created to teach people the way of life and add morals to it. No religion promotes discrimination or violence thus it should stay but not be misused.

Minsara S. S. Lecole Chempaka Kallayam

India is widely known for its various traditions and religions. The pleasant consequence of having different religions is that some people are very pleased and humiliated because of their religion. From one point of view, having different religions is not a boon since it causes many suppressions between the people of the same country.

sachi PAWAR PUBLIC SCHOOL, BHANDUP

India is the country known for its culture,India has diffrent cultures .We get this cultures from religion. Each religion has its own culture, and this makes India a incedible India.Religion isa impportant, but in limit.there should not be any discremination within the people on the basis of culture ,cast or whatsoever.each of us should belive in others culture also.

Our Indian Constitution provides us with the Freedom of religion. According to this fundamental right, every citizen of India has a right to practice and promote their religion peacefully. Also, it also gives the freedom of not to follow any religion . So, it depends on the individual. However, there have been a number of incidents of religious intolerance that resulted in riots and violence.

Whether it is Geeta ,Quran or Bible or any other religious book, the basic values and morals and what they preach is the same so it doesnt matter, what religion we follow. What matters is what lessons we learn.

Though religion may seem illogical it is actually very helpful In stopping people from doing harmful actions using fear of god

Haya Naved FATHER AGNEL SCHOOL(GAUTAM NAGAR)

Well I think religion is way of life. There is a difference between being religious and being holy. Being religious means following all customs and traditions and being holy means being a good person along with that. I think religion is important because maybe that fear of God often makes us stay within our limits. That fear does not allow us to cross certain limits we have.

Religion is what teaches us the basic norms of living. It gives us an ethical boundary.Yes,a religion is important. It gives a sense of direction to us.But getting of it over our head is not good. Then we start comparing between and criticize other religions which leaves no importance of religions.

India is a land known for its cultural diversity, and that does not in any way relate to religions.

Religion is nothing but imposing humanity by sanctioning the fear of a certain almighty.

Bhavya Shah Gopi Birla Memorial School - Walkeshwar

I am of the belief that humanity should be practised out of will and choice, and not out of fright.

Bhavya Shah Gopi Birla Memorial School - Walkeshwar

Thus, religion is only a namesake social system in my view that dictates humanity in different diluted forms, and not with its originality.diluted

Bhavya Shah Gopi Birla Memorial School - Walkeshwar

By dilutions, I am referring to the unreasonable restrictions and preposterous activities that certain religions ask to be followed, which are illogical and irrational.

well. these religions were introduced because there were many fights earlier and to stop them by the name of god was important at that time. people would fear themselves from god and this caused less fights. so taking it as a must from the heritage we should respect religion and also follow it.

Akshita Pandey LILAVATI BAI PODAR (A)-SCRUZ

No, I do not think that religion is necessary as we all should live in unity without any gender and religion discrimination.
