Sahithi: Are Reservations Really Required?

The reservation system is rather snatching away the opportunities from deserving students from higher castes and giving them to the undeserving students of the lower castes. This issue should be raised by the youth of our country. This system would destroy the lives of lakhs of good students. As the population is growing, the chances for students from higher castes are decreasing and a lot of the students from the lower castes are enjoying their jobs and lives without working hard.

No, reservation ain''t required in India. The history has witnessed how reservation has been misused by the so-called depressed and deprived classes of the Indian society who actually are very rich. Giving reservation will give rise to manipulation also as the firm will be biased to certain communities.

The caste based system do promote difference in caste instead of removing it .And due to the increase of difference in caste, the reservation system succeeds in creating gaps in society instead of eradicating the caste system.Caste is also being used for extending benefits in many fields like, education ,public service etc.these reservation are grabbing out the the job opportunity from rich people and giving it to the poor people who may not be trained properly.

No ,the reservation is not required in India. We are really affected by it.There is inequality just because of this.

Absolutely correct ! We don''t need reservations. It just increases inequality instead of decreasing it. It can be a huge threat to the nation as capable students are left out. And just to prevail these benefits many people like to identify themselves as lower castes.

Many rich people claim to come under marginalised groups. And B R Ambedkar had started this system just for 5 years after independence to bridge the gap but unfortunately it continues till now.

Though India is still a developing country and still a lot of SC ST''s are curbed within the society. The policies are very beneficial for them but it is a shame to see people changing their identity in order to get a seat. We cannot remove reservations completely at once but we can instead make it''s implications stricter. as when the state of India improves we can periodically decrease the reservation percentage. Changing policies will need dynamic preparation before.

No,reservations should never have a say in politics and especially in the career and job opportunities of the people. There are high cases of misuse and fraud in which reservations play a feeder role. The initial system of reservations was just wrong and now it has further expanded like a virus infecting everyone and now each community of the society argues and fights for their ''reservation rights''. Thus it is high time that reservation should be put away.

We need to make amends to what our ancestors have done in the past. Along with their wealth, we inherit their sins. Our ancestors did not allow the SC and st to develop, so we must allow the facility to them so that all of us can excel together. so according to me, reservations are necessary for the betterment of the community.

if india is really a democratic country then why this "caste system"?no reservation can make every citizen of our country equal.

Pranav Madhyastha PRESIDENCY SCHOOLNLO

I don''t think reservation is required. though it is meant for job opportunities for lower castes it would also mean discrimination to upper castes. Actually this is equality and also the most deserving do not get what they deserve. Rather the it goes into the hands of the lower castes

I don''t think reservations are important. They affect the future productivity of a country. They give rise to inequality which then leads to the question -DOES RIGHT TO EQUALITY EXIST IN OUR COUNTRY? The system of reservation can be replaced by providing free and qualitative education to all. This is tough as India has a very big population but it isn''t impossible

Darshan Dhabale Shantiniketan Public School , Panvel

As per my perspective, reservations cannot be seen in a negative or positive way.The criteria and policies for reservation need a lot change. As in the past the caste system was spread all over India and didn''t give opportunities to lower castes or women,so this give rise to partial development. As far as Education is concerned Reservation shouldn''t be applied ,as I believe that education of the citizens makes the country more and more strong.

Darshan Dhabale Shantiniketan Public School , Panvel

If we say about other fields ,Reservation shouldn''t be removed at once but should have a criteria that is not based on caste. The ideal criteria would be( Wealth ,Economical stability ,Job ,Salary ,Area of settlement (Rural/Urban) ,etc). It shouldn''t happen that a rich person would get the same facilities from govt. as a poor person gets. []After all RESERVATION shouldn''t be based on caste]

Darshil Shukla Shri Ramswaroop Memorial] Public School

A! Reservation can only be demolished when we would demolish the difference of sc and common . if we citizens are not ready to change our mindset for sc /st then why are we not ready to see such system government is providing them reser vation only because common human like us look down to them
