Saahil Shaikh: Why Are Women Not Free?

Even though our country is developing day by day, the safety of women is still a concern. Women are being raped every day. Why can't we care for the self-respect of the women? Women are not allowed to leave home after dark, why is it so? I feel that women should be respected as much as men are. Women are at par with men and even smarter than them. I think until and unless the life of women in the country is not uplifted, our country will not be truly developed. What’s your take?

Yes Women should be respected like men are respected in the country.India was scored at 0.66 by World Economic Forum, and ranked 101 out of 136 countries in 2013. Despite of the Beti Bachao beti Padao campaign, LAAKHO BETIYA HAR ROZ MAR RAHI HAI(Lakhs of girl child is murdered daily).

It is not like womens'' condition in the society is not being tried to ameliorate but , because of a few hoodlums & lechers a women is still insecure .Changing their mind is quite insurmountable .Changing them is just like removing a person out of a bog. The best thing one can do tight security & second is explain the youth that ''What is WRONG is WRONG ,''so that in future there''d be no issue regarding women security in future & could have actual freedom of movement .

Women should be respected in the country irrespective of her caste, colour, gender and much more. Women are not free because some men take advantage of women and misbehave with them be it physical or not.

Because parents aren''t doing their duty of raising their boys to become men who respect women. It is not just the men''s fault. Watch reality shows like crime patrol or simply read the newspaper, and you''ll find how so many mothers and mother- in- laws actually create the environment that deprives the women of freedom.
