Prisha Jain: How Can We Retain Our Culture

Culture is the identity of a group of people living in a specific part of the world. People living in different parts of the world have different clothing, different tastes in food, different religions etc, to which we refer to as culture.

But despite this diversity, the unique point to be noted here is that our hearts beat as one. Culture is not something to be learnt from our elders but we say that culture is adaptive. What this means is that one learns about their culture by just observing their family members who practice certain habits on a daily basis such as religion, worship and festivals.

But in today's fast changing world, heavily dependent on evolution and high competition, we may have gained a lot on technological front, but we have lost our culture. It has happened because our culture is thought to be old fashioned, not up to date and is thus devalued. Losing one's culture means indirectly losing one's heritage and losing the heritage means losing the pride of a nation. So let's value our cultures and realize its importance.
