Prathamesh Kandale: Is My Dress, My Personality Too?

Often, people are judged by their dress code, hairstyle etc, and we are constantly reminded that your dress code shows your personality. Now a days, people are judging your personality by your outer presentation and they do not care about what you are inside. Even in interviews, they check your hairstyle, dress code and if you have shaved or not. Is it the right thing to do?

At some places this works! I am completely against appearance but I do agree with presenting oneself. Here money has no role to play but your consciousness is important. The way you present, including your attitude should not affect others. If your dressing sense makes people around you feel uncomfortable then even if you speak good, it''ll not be taken into account. But one should not be completely judged with that. Nice question Prathamesh!

This is a good question. Judging based on appearance is very common and I think, everyone regardless of whether they deny or not, do form an opinion based on what you wear. Mind, not how you looks, as in facial features, instead, what you wear. But as we know, looks can be deceptive and we cannot judge based on just the outward appearance. But the personality is reflected in your neatness in dressing, etc.

This is a huge problem to be judged because of dress codes , I agree that this should not be done this should not be done at any possibility. This is common near the Film industries, which should not take place. I would like to share a true statement written by DR. A.P.J ABDUL KALAM-"People should not be judged by their look but by their work" as beauty is eternity, gazing itself in the mirror. I completely disagree with the statement.

If I say honestly, presentation actually matters to some extent but not more than your inner personality.People first see you from outside so you have to get their trust and I think that it has a part of your outer presentation too.

I believe every place and each situation has its own demand. You shouldn''t have beard on when you go for an interview.Similarly one cannot go for a picnic with blazer! It all depends on the occasion and your sense of dressing.Yes your clothes definitely define your personality.

First impression is the last impression! Abide by this. I totally agree that our dress code is our personality. It has been scientifically proven that the colour of our dress indicates our moods and our sense of dressing even shows whether we come from a decent family. It does not mean that shiny and expensive clothes are considered decent. Even a simple t-shirt can be considered decent if worn in the right way and the person carries himself well in public.

Often, when people introduce themselves they are judged by how they dress and look. We learn that our dress code is important as it shows our personality. But, one should not be completely judged by that. Your attitude around people makes up a person''s mind and thoughts about you. Personally, I think a person''s hardwork and intelligence should be considered in interviews,

G.Yaazhini Pon Vidyashram - Valasaravakkam

I think it’s totally wrong as for my opinion because one should be free for their dressing, hairstyle or moreover it’s their right to freedom.Even if you say in an interview, he/she will perfectly be in formal but even though they see what hairstyles, their kind of dresses or whether he has shaved and this is totally abusing them through the dress codes.Only in schools ,we students follow the rules and dress codes as uniforms as under 18 but even after 18 they shouldn’t be forced to do so

Jayasakthi.R Bethel Mat Hr Sec School

Yes of course it is so.it is because today''s world has the habbitof judging people at the first sight.

Roma Ramcoumar Bethel Mat Hr Sec School

Obviously people judge us by our appearance .Your look and your dressing sense makes impression about your character .

Shamika Nayak St.Xavier's icse

See I feel first look does leave an impression however no one should be judged by their external appearence only as not always a beautiful looking diva must be good at heart or a not so good looking person is bad at heart. And after all god has created us the way he felt we would be good so then who are we humans to judge anyone and not at all by their dress code. After all we all are meant to be awesome not perfect!

I do not think that the way a person dresses up has anything to do with his personality

JOMILIN JOHN ST.ANTHONY'S SR.SEC SCHOOL

I think this has become a common criterion to judge people nowadays and there is nothing bad in it. Even I support it as I too practice it in my daily life. Nowadays people say that one''s dress and gestures reflects the inner self of people. I think somewhat or the other it is right but not usually. May be the person sitting next to me would be intellectual and smart but if he/she is not properly dressed , this means either they don''t have dressing sense or some other reasons.

Arkin Idnani BGS National Public School

Wearing tidy clothes, maintaining personal hygiene and grooming all make are a "part" of your personality but your personality does not depend on "only" one of these things but each of these make your personality. However, there may be some places where one of these make up a greater part of your personality but not the whole of it.
