Pranav: Can ISRO Challenge NASA In Space Race?
Representative Image

Ever since its inception in 1958, NASA has been the world's foremost authority in space administration. It has faced tough competition from the Soviets, the Chinese and now the Indians at ISRO. NASA's latest satellite plans to 'touch the Sun' at 190 kms per second, which will be going as close as any man made object has ever gone.

ISRO, on the other hand, is breaking record after record launching satellites for India and other countries as well. The ISRO also has a knack for completing supposedly expensive missions at amazingly cheap rates. In fact, ISRO's Chandrayaan 2 was cheaper than the budget of the 2013 Hollywood movie ‘Gravity’.

I feel most of NASA's scientists and engineers are Indians, so most of the brainpower is due to their Indian origins. Although NASA spends over $15 billion every year, it has also experienced some failures, while ISRO has a better success ratio. NASA has contributed to the International Space Station, while India is yet to make such a move internationally.

But Indian engineers are considered one of best in the world and have the ability to complete missions cost-effectively. Only if ISRO manages to get the mammoth funding it deserves for its vision, it is likely to surpass NASA. Though ISRO has never sent a man to the Moon, it has the potential to be one of world's best aeronautical organisations.

ISRO. need not to challenge NASA as it is already better than NASA. It only requires our support. ISRO launched Mangalyan at a cost of 83 rs./km which shocked NASA.

No not possible at all. Isro dont have good scientists and budget

Ofcourse! In a shorter span of time ISRO had come a long way. Mangalyaan ,Chandrayaan are just a few steps in the ladder which it has to climb. I think that it is already challenging some of the world''s best spce agencies and within a short period of time it''ll be in the top space organisations in the world!
