Kshitij Shah: Why We Prefer Holidaying Abroad?

From Taj Mahal to Ajanta-Ellora, Wankhede to Eden Gardens, India Gate to Gateway of India, Sikkim to Ooty, Chennai to Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir to Kerala, we have so many tourist attractions in the country yet people travel abroad during vacations. I just do not understand why.  India is equally beautiful as any other country, isn’t it?  So should we not give preference to India first while planning our holidays?

India does have many tourist attractions but people like travelling abroad because maybe they like those places better or just want to show-off. No offence meant but none of the cities of India make their way in Top 100 Beautiful Cities of the World.

No hard feelings but beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder:)

That''s true but again that''s a personal choice. The number of foreign tourists are increasing day by day in India : That''s because they adore our country''s beauty. The same way there might be people who adore Tourist attractions abroad but we cannot declare that they don''t love their country''s history.

India is a truly wonderful country with a lot of heritage, cultural as well as tourist destinations. The number of foreign tourists to India are also on the rise. No offence, but maybe people who are rich have seen all these places and want to try something new like surfing or seeing places like the Burj Khalifa which cannot be seen in India.Again no offence but foreign places too have a lot to offer from the Kennedy Space Centre to Disneyland or Harry Potter''s world.

People do prefer holidaying abroad and I think it should be because when you go abroad you gain knowledge and you do get experience. It is not always that people show off their money that they are going abroad. For example, if you go to London, then they can learn about history, monuments, architects, technology, etc. Therefore, there is no end to education. And it is not compulsory to be abroad, it can include other places in India too.

I agree with you but the thing is that they want to maybe experience different cultures around the world and not just to show that they are rich

India has a lot to offer to it''s tourists and people who like going outside don''t know anything about the heritage of India. Places like Taj Mahal (which is one of the seven wonders of the world) cannot be found outside India. There are so many cultural and World Heritage Sites in INDIA as well.

India is replete with breathtaking places, and yes it is true that Indians nowadays prefer traveling abroad. Our contry is very unique from the others. The decision of traveling abroad is in the hands of the Indian masses and there is nothing we can do about it. All countries have something wonderful to give to their tourists.

its once choice he/she want to go ...to explore new things, outer world .if they are going out its their choice we cannot give them the name show-off because everybody have dreams which are different from one another.even other countries man come to india for tours and yes we cannot say that they are bad and dont love their country .we can say the people who are settling out and never going to come back from that world []country]

No offence but the thing is that citizens abroad cooperate with the government amd help in maintaining the beauty of their history. It is even our responsibility to cooperate with the government and keep our places clean. Isn ''t it decreasing India ''s beauty when we litter around even though distbins are placed ? If we continue to litter then people will lose interset in our public places.

You are right Kshitij. But it''s ones own choice. If a person goes abroad for vacation it is not that they don''t admire India. It''s for a change. As you are saying we have lot to see and enjoy here. So it can be considered. We can admire the beauty of our country first.

Akshita Pandey LILAVATI BAI PODAR (A)-SCRUZ

Very good question, Kshitij. I feel that travelling abroad is better as the beauty of abroad places is phenomenal. The best part about abroad places is that they maintain their beauty and have proper facilities for everything. Their maintenance is out of the world. I believe that U.S.A is the best place for tourism and beauty.

People just want to show-off .India is a really great country and we should know about Indian places more.

Kshitij Vinod Nalawade ST. PATRICKS HIGH SCHOOL

Holidaying is a time when people want to relax. Holidaying abroad gives people a chance to experience and enjoy something new and different. Going abroad educates people with the culture of other countries. This may be the reason why people prefer holidaying abroad. But before we need to experience and discover the beautiful heritage culture of our own country before holidaying abroad.

I think people like to waste their time and money in roaming abroad. I think they want to show that they have too much of money. And if anyone would ask them to show their photographs they would show that one and they think that this would give them respect.
