Khushboo Tehlan: Are We Modern Hyprocrites?

Yeah, you're reading it right. Some of you may be thinking why I am nagging about someone’s mind set, but the reality is that still we are bound by the clutches of narrow mindedness and stereotypical outlook.

Even after seventy years of independence we are not able to respect the females of the society. Though we call ourselves modern but how we don’t even know how to respect the opposite sex?

Still in some households, I have seen that girls fear to step out of their homes or interact with guys because they fear that their families might not forgive them for it.

It’s high time and also the need of the hour to promote gender equality in every section of the society. Females are not mere objects and males are not a piece of criticism. It takes two to make a quarrel. We must honour both the genders and both males and females have an equal say in the progress and development of the country.

Yes, both the genders deserve to be respected equally. Feminism should not turn into discrimination and men should not disrespect their opposite gender.

The problem is with the rural areas. They have continued to follow the earlier socio-religious culture of not giving their females complete freedom.

Talking about hypocrites world is full of them. But modern hypocrites who talk about gender equality are common.

Indeed it is true , both the genders are to be respected equally . For years females have been treated badly by the orthodox communities so , now we must improve the position of females so as to let our country to progress .

After 70 years of independence, we still aren''t independent of our immature thinking. This is the main reason why our country is developing and not developed.

Really true, we need to understand that even being feminist doesnot mean only supporting women or giving her rights,it means supporting equality between both the genders. For equality we need to change not only laws but mindset of people.

Nobody is respected equally

Even after 70 years of independence, we still aren''t independent from our immature thinking. This is the main reason to why our country is still developing and not developed. It is high time that we should free ourselves from this sin.

Meghna Menon NSN Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Chitlap

Though we preach about feminism and equality, in practical sense, none of this has been put into action. A man or a woman supporting rights for themselves is not feminism. When he or she starts developing respect for his or her opposite sex and believing in equality of opportunity and portrays that in his or her character, that is what feminism is all about. It is more important to create awareness and understand than blindly holding posters and banners stating "Say NO to Sexism."

Jeffrey okeke KAUSHALAYA WORLD SCH.GR.NOIDA

Partiality is the term that make gender issue escalate. It is better to give each a opportunity to both because both the genders have eqal right to participate in everything.

Mansi Borade PADUA HIGH SCHOOL-MANKHURD

it is our division that is creating by us.

BHUVANA.V Amalorpavam Higher Secondary School - Puducherry

Both the genders should be treated equally. People should not be respected because of their gender. This is one of the serious problems prevailing in our society.
