Hemalatha: Is Virtual World Stealing Our Real Time?

In this fast growing world, we are all embellishing our lives with technology. Before aeons, having a cellphone was a mystery; but now not having a gadget is seen as something that affects our social status. "World in hand", is killing our space slowly.

We the people, are spending most of our time in gaining more followers on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. We are being attention craving lads and lassies, indirectly. Due to that, the time that ought to be spent for people around us are being stolen by the social media. By having control over our participation in social media sites, we can manage our important stuff.

Well, ironically Internet was made to save people''s time. But the current scenario is completely contrasting. I believe social media are important and I myself am on 6-7 social media sites. But again I don''t prioritize social media in my life but I do see that 90% of the youth population is obsessed with them. So I believe it would be better if social media sites were only used by those who don''t get addicted to it.

Elon Musk''s recent speech about A.I and Facebook Cambridge Analytica are examples which has been ignored by most of us. According to me, nowadays social media is a complete mess because all i can see is that someone is making his/her life on it, while some other fellow is taking his/her life due to it. Sadly, we all are under this spectrum and it totally depends upon us that how we continue to percieve it as by far of the 21st century our technology is a blessing, wrapped in a curse.
