Gayathri: How Do We Solve The Plastic Waste Problem?

Plastic can be both boon and bane. Remarkably, our country has started implementing the ways to reduce plastic usage and bring awareness amongst the citizens. We all are aware by now that plastic is the major threat to the world in today's life.

It is an imperishable but renewable thing. So the producers aren't stopping the manufacture of plastic as they are benefited a lot of money. Excess production of plastic is unable to stop the citizens from using it and this is subjected to increase in heat on the earth.

As plastic is imperishable, there is no other way to reduce plastic on earth and hence, people start burning it. This is the long connected chain leading to global warming by the production of smoke.

However, one good thing about it is that plastic is being used as an ingredient to make tar and cement roads and these roads can even bare the strong winds and heavy rains. India has started a new restaurant known as 'the Garbage Cafe'. It is located in Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh.

In this place, food is offered to people who give plastic. Plastic is taken from the purchasers in the sense of money. This garbage is then used to make roads. Through this drive, poor people can also collect plastic or garbage from streets and neighbours and get food for free.
